Laura Kennedy-Weeks  - Headteacher

Resources and School Improvement Committees

As the Headteacher of Millfield First & Nursery School I am a member of the Governing Body of the School. This gives me the chance to meet with all the governors on a regular basis and work with them to make our school even better. I attend both the School Improvement and Resources Committees where all aspects of school life are discussed.


Peter Godbert - Local Authority (LA) Governor - Chair of Governors

Link Role: English

Peter joined the governing body at Millfield in 2006.  He is currently the link governor for English.  Having previously served as Chair of Governors, Peter has taken on this role again for this academic year.  Peter works as a manager of a small team of programmers developing statistical software which benefits his ICT work with the school.  Peter has three children who all attended Millfield in the past.  He lives locally and is regularly found in school supporting reading in Key Stage 1 (KS1).  Peter is also an Elder of Christ Church, United Reformed Church on Baldock Road and helps lead the Junior Church there.


Paul Hadley - Co-opted Governor

Paul is a Co-opted Govenor who joined the Governing Body in 1997.  Living in Stevenage, Paul's links to Buntingford started when he worked for The Co-operative Group.  Paul is the longest serving Governor at Millfield, is currently Chair of the Resources Committee and also served as Chair of Governors for a period of 5 years.


Teresa Bonner - Co-opted Governor

Link Role: Early Years Foundation Stage

Teresa  joined Millfield Governors late in 2011...but she is no stranger to the school. She worked as a Midday Supervisory Assistant for 11 years about 13 years ago. She is the link governor for Early Years Foundation Stage and is on the School Improvement Committee.  She worked at Buntingford Library for 17 years and held storytime there every Thursday. Teresa visits the children in Foundation Stage each week to read them a story.  Both her children attended Millfield School. She and husband Graham enjoy spending time with their grandson. Teresa loves to read and garden, making cards and spending time with the two dogs....Dylan and Tillie.  She and her husband are also Town Councillors.


Saylesh Nakum - Co-opted Governor

Saylesh has been involved with Millfield since 2005 when his eldest child started in Reception Class.  Saylesh has recently served as Chair of Governors.  Saylesh was educated at Loughborough University and has worked in the software industry ever since.  He moved to Buntingford in 1998 after joining a company in Cambridgeshire.  Saylesh enjoys spending time with his family and friends and likes walks in the local countryside, sports (badminton, running and cycling) and music.

Alex was welcomed onto the Governing Body as a Co-opted Governor in February 2016.  He has lived in Buntingford for a number of years and went to Millfield when he was younger. Currently he teaches SEND students in a Special School in Stevenage and has a Masters Degree in Special Needs. In his spare time he volunteers with Scouts, recently taking a number of young people to Japan to take part in a world jamboree. He is passionate about education for all and hopes to offer a valuable contribute to the governing body.


Olivia Walker - Staff Governor

Olivia has recently joined the governing body and will be working on the School Improvement Committee.  She currently teaches a Year 1 class.


Alison Barr - Parent Governor

Alison joined the governors of Millfield School in March 2013 as a busy parent of two young boys just starting their journey through the school.  She herself has been a teacher for twenty years, mainly working with primary aged pupils in a wide variety of schools both in the UK and overseas. She currently works part-time as a Special Needs Co-ordinator in a large primary school in Stevenage.  Alison is part of the School Improvement Committee.


Louisa Reed - Parent Governor

Link Role: Science

Louisa joined the governors of Millfield School in May 2015. Her eldest child is currently in Year 2 and her younger child started Reception in September 2017. Louisa has worked as a Science Editor and Medical Writer for over ten years, following completion of a doctorate in Molecular Biology. She has had an interest in science since being fascinated at primary school by the intricate shape of snowflakes viewed down a microscope . Through her Science link role, she hopes to be able to support the school in providing the children with an inspiring introduction to a subject she loves.


Rick Duncan - Parent Governor

Rick joined as a Governor in November 2015. He has five children, four of them have attended Millfield school of which one (Daizee-Mai) is currently still attending.  He has been residing locally in Throcking for the past 12 years. Rick has spent the last 16 years working in digital across various verticals from small to large corporate businesses instilling digital transformation and he is currently working for a financial institute as Head of Digital. His spare time is mainly devoted to his family but around family and work life he can be found in the gym daily, he also practises karate and is currently training for his black belt at Edwinstree School.


Kerry-Lyn Coughtrey - Parent Governor

I decided to volunteer as a parent governor because I wanted to make a positive contribution towards our children’s education.  I am passionate about education and recognised the importance in  ensuring every child has the right environment to grow & develop.  I have two children at the school, one is in Little Stars and one in Year 1.  My son has made significant progress at Millfield and the quality of education he has received has had a direct effect on his development.  I have seen the excellent efforts the staff and school have made to maximise the quality of his school experience, both academically and socially and I felt it was important to get involved.  I have 16 years Marketing experience working in a fast paced retail environment delivering large marketing campaigns.   


Fiona Judd - Parent Governor

Fiona is a Parent Governor who joined the Governing Body of Millfield School in April 2017. She is the link governor for Eco-Action and Environment. Fiona has a degree in Psychology and has worked and volunteered for charities in London, she also has experience of working in social care. Fiona now works in project management for Hertfordshire County Council. Fiona’s eldest daughter attends Millfield School and her youngest will start at Little Stars when she is three. Fiona and her husband moved to Buntingford in 2014.
