Pre-School Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking Manager for our Pre-School. Our ‘Little Stars’ Pre-School has experienced, friendly and hardworking staff, well-behaved happy children and a well resourced building. ‘Little Stars’ was inspected in January 2015 and received an ‘Outstanding’ rating by Ofsted.

Millfield First & Nursery School is a popular and successful school and was inspected by Ofsted and judged ‘Outstanding’ (Feb 09). In addition to being a Manager in our ‘Little Stars’ Pre-School, the successful applicant will organise both the Breakfast, After School Club and Holiday Club provisions. The post would suit someone with energy, commitment and a clear understanding of Early Years Foundation Stage. The successful applicant will have an NVQ3 (minimum) qualification or NNEB in Early Years education and some managerial experience. The post is available to start from 23rd April 2019 and is for a fixed term of a year in the first instance, with a view to become permanent.

Little Stars Pre-School is part of Millfield First & Nursery School providing high-quality childcare. The Pre-School is located in our purpose-built Nursery. There are excellent indoor and outdoor learning environments. Breakfast Club and Fun Club take place in the main part of the school. The staff are experienced and have all undertaken training in Early Years Education. Our Pre-School is an integral part of the school and the management of the Pre-School is the responsibility of the Headteacher and the Governing Body.

Duties and Responsibilites

Little Stars is open Monday to Friday from 9:00am - 3:15pm, term time only. Breakfast Club runs each weekday from 8:00am – 8:45am and Fun Club runs each week day from 3:15pm - 5.15pm (until 4:15pm on a Friday). The Holiday club runs for various days during the school holidays (excluding Christmas) and the Manager will be expected to work on some of these days. The Manager is responsible for all aspects of Little Stars, including administrative duties, as well as having contact with the children in the room as a ‘key worker’. The Manager’s role will include organising staff, staff performance management meetings, planning for the children, assessing progress and closely liaising with the Foundation stage leader and Head teacher. The Manager’s role also includes invoicing, applying for funding and working closely with parents/carers to ensure a smooth induction process and excellent communication at all times. The Manager has overall responsible for the administration of finances for Little Stars, Breakfast Club, Fun Club and Holiday Club.

SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant to support the teaching and learning of groups of learners and on a 1 to 1 basis with pupils with special educational needs.  This post is a full time fixed term contract in the first instance.  The post will be available for an immediate start. 

The successful candidate will be a friendly and efficient person.  They must have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.

Teaching Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant (approx. 17 hours per week) to work largely in a Key Stage 2 class.  This post is a fixed term contract initially for one year with the likelihood to become permanent.

They will be a friendly and efficient person.  They must have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team.  The post will be available as soon as possible.

Mid-Day Supervisory Assistant

We are seeking to appoint a Mid-Day Supervisory Assistant for every day of the week. The hours are 12:00noon to 1:10pm (5.83 hours per week) term time only.

This is a job for someone who enjoys being with children; listening to them, supporting them, playing with them and also for ensuring their safety and well-being. They will be a friendly and efficient person. They must have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team. The post will be available from Monday 4th March 2019. The post is offered on a fixed term contract basis initially for one year with a view to becoming permanent.

The main duties include: preparing the dining room for school lunches, clearing away afterwards and supervising pupils whilst they eat lunch and play outside.
