Poetry styles

This video will remind you of some of the poetry styles we have looked at over the last year. You can choose one of the poetry forms to write your own poem about the evacuee children shown in the picture in your hone learning pack. Happy writing :)

I hope this video helps with your maths home learning. It includes comparing units of time and telling the time on an analogue clock.

We would like to invite all Year 3 and 4 children to take part in a Hertfordshire Virtual Sports competition.

To take part your child will need to complete the sports activities at home and send their results via email to Mrs Wallis ( We are hoping that many of our Year 3 and 4 children will represent Millfield School against other Hertfordshire Schools.

The children are allowed to practice, train and improve at home and then submit their best scores. There will be winners from different local areas and the children will receive prizes.

Our first event is the pentathlon. Please click this link to watch the opening ceremony video:

This virtual pentathlon is made up of 5 different events:

• Shuttle Runs

• Standing Long Jump

• Vertical Jump

• Speed Bounce

• Target Throw

Below is a document with more details for each of the 5 events within the virtual pentathlon. Please look at this document as it details how to set up the events.

If your child wants to take part, please email their best scores to Mrs Wallis by lunchtime on Friday 19th June. Mrs Wallis and Mr Rome will forward the results to the School Games organisers.

A few reminders of what to include in your story.

3rd June 2020

Today marks the day when Year 4 children would have been excitedly heading off for fun and adventures on their residential trip to Lincolnsfields. As this sadly cannot happen, we wanted to provide an alternative option for our Year 4 children. For each day that the trip was booked for (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), we will be providing an activity, which is similar to an activity that the children would have undertaken at Lincolnsfields. We will share the activities on the Year 4 Page on the school website each morning.  If you wish to share, please email your child's completed activities to their class teacher via the class email address. We hope that the Year 4 children will enjoy completing these activities.

This will help you to understand some of the grammatical terminology.

As we start venturing out and about, it is important that we all stay safe when near roads. Here are some activities to support this.
