NURSERY ADMISSIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2026

Application Process for Nursery Provisions

An application must be made direct to the School.

Timeline

Nursery Provision Offer for 3-Year-Olds

Start Date: One intake in September.

Morning Nursery Sessions

Eligibility: All 3-year-old children

Session information: 

• Time: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 11:45am (term time only).
• Total: 15 hours of free early education per week (funded).
• Recommendation: Attend all five sessions weekly for best learning and development.
• How to Apply: Complete a Nursery application form. The school will follow up to confirm arrangements.

Afternoon Nursery Sessions: Early Explorers

Eligibility: Available to children attending morning Nursery sessions.

Session information:

• Offers additional daily learning and enrichment activities: 11:45am – 2:45pm.
• Minimum Attendance: 2 sessions per week.
• Cost: £20.40 per session (subject to change).
• Funding Options: Can be covered by 30-hour funding or paid privately.
• How to Apply: Indicate interest on the Nursery application form. The school will follow up to confirm arrangements.

Extended Session: Early Explorers Club

Eligibility: Available for children already attending Early Explorers.

Session information:

• Offers support for families with older siblings at Millfield: 2:45pm - 3:15pm.
• Cost: £3.40 per session (subject to change). 
• How to Apply: Indicate interest on the Nursery application form. The school will follow up to confirm arrangements.

Nursery Provision Offer for 2-Year-Olds

Our Nursery Provision for 2-Year-Olds is collaboratively run alongside our provision for 3-Year-Olds. 

Start Date: One intake in September.

A minimum of two sessions per week are required.

This provision can either be government funded and/or fee paying.

Cost: £27.00 per session (subject to change). 

This provision has a limited number of places.

How to Apply: Complete a Nursery application form. The school will follow up to confirm arrangements.

Session Times (from September 2026):

Morning, afternoon or all day sessions are available Monday to Friday on a term time only basis.

• Morning session: 8:45am - 11:45am
• Afternoon session: 12:15pm - 3:15pm 
• All day (2 sessions): 8:45am - 2:45pm 

Application Forms for the academic year 2026-2027 for 2-Year-Olds and 3-Year-Olds

Application Forms will be available to download HERE from 3rd November 2025. 

A paper copy of the application forms may also be obtained from the School Office from 3rd November 2025. Completed forms must be returned to Millfield First & Nursery School and an acknowledgement of receipt obtained.

Oversubscription Criteria

Places will be allocated in accordance with the oversubscription criteria if there are more applications made than spaces available.

Additional Information

Any application received after the closing date of 15th January 2026 at 3:00pm will be treated as a late application and processed as a late application. 

Places for late applications will be allocated in accordance with the oversubscription criteria. 

If required, we will hold a waiting list and places will be allocated, if and when available, according to the oversubscription criteria.
