Personal, Social & Health Education and Relationships & Sex Education

Children will encounter many of life’s challenges for the first time during their early school years. We aim to provide pupils with the knowledge and skills needed to lead safe, healthy, and happy lives. Developing life skills are essential for all pupils to reach their full potential socially and academically. Our Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) also covers Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development, as well as Relationships and Sex Education (RSE). It supports pupils to develop the skills required to manage different pressures and influences, and experience challenging situations in a safe environment.

Our curriculum is mapped to ensure full coverage and progression. We have always put great emphasis on this element of the curriculum and believe a pastoral education is vitally important for young people. We teach these key skills through our curriculum with many opportunities for the children to explore their feelings and develop social skills. We offer extra support for children and their families where necessary; we have introduced the role of a Family Support Worker at Millfield to aid this provision for our school community.
