NURSERY ADMISSIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2025

Nursery Provision for 3 Year Olds

Parents of children born between 1st September 2021 and 31st August 2022 can apply for their Nursery place to start in September 2025 from 1st November 2024.  An application must be made direct to the School.

Nursery Provision for 2 Year Olds

Parents of children born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023 can apply for their Nursery place to start in September 2025 from 1st November 2024.  An application must be made direct to the School.

Provision Available

Nursery Provision for 3 Year Olds

Our Nursery cohort can offer up to 36 spaces.

We have one intake for Nursery in September and your child will attend morning sessions and have the opportunity to stay for afternoon enrichment sessions (Early Explorers).

Nursery session times are term time Monday to Friday 8:45am to 11:45am totalling 15 hours of free early education.  We recommend attending five sessions per week to support with your child’s learning and development.

We are pleased to offer wraparound care places (Early Explorers) to children attending Millfield Nursery in the morning.  Early Explorers sessions run daily from 11:45am to 2:45pm following on from the morning Nursery session.  This provision can be either funded by 30 hour funded provision and/or fee paying.  There is a minimum requirement to attend at least two sessions per week if choosing this afternoon provision.  The fee is currently £20.40 per session. Requests for this provision should be indicated on the Nursery application form, you will be contacted as soon as possible by the school to confirm arrangements.

Early Explorers sessions provide additional opportunities for learning and development through a variety of enrichment sessions.  Please see the booklet below for information regarding Early Explorers sessions:

We are also pleased to offer an extended Early Explorers session (Early Explorers Club) from 2:45pm to 3:15pm on a fee paying basis for Nursery children who attend Early Explorers. This has been planned to support parents/carers with older siblings that attend Millfield as they will finish the school day at 3:15pm.  The fee is currently £3.40 per session.

Nursery Provision for 2 Year Olds

Our Nursery Provision for 2 Year Olds is collaboratively run alongside our Provision for 3 Year Olds.  Morning, afternoon or all day sessions are available on a term time only basis.  A minimum of two sessions per week are required.  This provision can either be government funded and/or fee paying.  This provision has a limited number of places.

Application Forms for the academic year 2025 2026

A paper copy of the application forms may also be obtained from the School Office from 4th November 2024.  Completed forms must be returned to Millfield First & Nursery School and an acknowledgement of receipt obtained.

Nursery Provision for 3 Year Olds

Being offered a Nursery place is not a guarantee for obtaining a Reception place.  A separate application must be made at the appropriate time for a Reception place.

Nursery Provision for 2 Year Olds

A separate application must be made at the appropriate time for a Nursery Provision for 3 Year Olds place.  Please note that within the current oversubscription criteria, consideration is given to children who attend the Millfield First & Nursery School Provision for 2 Year Olds (Nursery First Year) at the school at the time of application for a Nursery Provision for 3 Year Olds place.

Oversubscription Criteria

Places will be allocated in accordance with the oversubscription criteria if there are more applications made than spaces available.

Additional Information

Any application received after the closing date of 13.02.25 at 3:00pm will be treated as a late application and processed as a late application. 

Places for late applications will be allocated in accordance with the oversubscription criteria if there are spaces available once on-time applications have been allocated. 

We will hold a waiting list and places will be allocated, if and when available, according to the oversubscription criteria against the waiting list at the time a place becomes available.

We will use Google maps as a measuring tool to measure home-school distance measurements as measured in a straight line.

There is no appeal procedure for Nursery admissions and, therefore, any complaints would be managed using the complaints procedure.
