Laura Kennedy-Weeks  - Headteacher

As the Headteacher of Millfield First & Nursery School, Laura is a member of the Governing Body of the School. This provides the Headteacher with the opportunity to meet with all the governors on a regular basis and work with them to make Millfield even better. Laura attends both the School Improvement and Resources Committees where all aspects of school life are discussed.

Peter Godbert - Local Authority (LA) Governor - Chair of Governors

Current Term of Office: December 2021 to December 2025

Peter joined the governing body at Millfield in 2006.  Peter has previously served as Chair of Governors and Chair of School Improvement Committee.  Peter has recently retired and previously worked as a manager of a small team of programmers developing statistical software which benefits his ICT work with the school.  Peter has three children who all attended Millfield in the past.  Peter is also an Elder of Christ Church, United Reformed Church on Baldock Road and helps lead the Junior Church there.

Paul Hadley - Co-opted Governor

Paul is a Co-opted Governor who joined the Governing Body in 1997.  Living in Stevenage, Paul's links to Buntingford started when he worked for The Co-operative Group.  Paul is the longest serving Governor at Millfield and is currently Chair of the Resources Committee having held the role of Chair for many years.  Paul also served as Chair of Governors for a period of 5 years.

Beth Taylor - Co-opted Governor

Beth is a Co-opted Governor joined Millfield Governing Body in November 2024.  Beth grew up in Buntingford and went through the local school system, including Millfield Nursery.  She returned to raise her family and both her children attended local schools.  Her background is in Special Educational Needs and Mental Health, she has worked in various settings with adults and children for the NHS and charities before coming to Millfield 15 years ago to work as a Teaching Assistant.  She was Millfield's Family Support Worker, Mental Health Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for 9 years.  She has recently completed training as a Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner for children and adolescents.  In her spare time Beth likes walking her sausage dog and crochet.

Sarah Brown - Staff

Sarah joined the Governing Body in the Spring Term 2023.  She is the Deputy Headteacher of Millfield First & Nursery School and was elected as the Staff Governor.  As a staff governor, she is able to share views and ideas from the viewpoint of a member of staff to help develop the school.

Spencer O'Neill - Parent Governor - Vice-Chair of Governors

Mr O’Neill is a parent governor who joined in November 2023.  He lives in Buntingford and has three young children who attend Millfield.  Spencer is a purchasing manager at Lindab, a Swedish ventilation company.  He is a mechanical engineer, learning his trade in the Royal Navy.  In his spare time, you'll find him enjoying football and learning Spanish.

Joanna was recently warmly welcomed onto our Governing Body and is assigned to the Resources Committee.  Her background is in Finance and she has also been a School Business Manager.  She has had a long time interest in education and recognises the importance of being a parent governor and would like to support and be involved in school life.

Regina has recently joined our Governing Body as a Parent Governor. Professionally, she works as the European Health and Safety Manager at Altro, overseeing multiple sites across the UK and Europe. She brings extensive experience in health & safety, adult education and safeguarding. Alongside her professional role, Regina volunteers as a teaching assistant at the Cambridge Hungarian School on Saturdays, supporting children in a classroom setting. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and has recently developed a passion for gardening.

Rebecca Smith - Parent Governor

Rebecca has recently joined our Governing Body as a Parent Governor.  Rebecca grew up in Buntingford and attended Millfield Nursery as a child. Her youngest child attends Millfield and her eldest child attends Edwinstree Middle School. She has over 16 years of teaching experience within Hertfordshire schools, predominantly within the EYFS. She currently works part time in a KS1 classroom and leads the Forest School provision at a local school. She is passionate about children’s well-being and particularly how outdoor learning can enhance this.

In her spare time she enjoys creative activities with her children and baking. 

Katherine Silverosa - Parent Governor

Katherine has recently joined our Governing Body as a Parent Governor.  Katherine has lived in Buntingford for 20 years and went to Edwinstree School and Freman College.  Her nieces attended Millfield School.  This year, when her child was old enough to attend Millfield, she was excited for them to join.  She works for a furniture dealer as a project manager for education and corporate companies and is currently on maternity leave.  She is really excited to be a part of the Governing Body.  In her free time she loves spending time with her family and socialising with her friends when she can.

Sharon Chivers - Governance Professional Clerk

Mrs Chivers works as a Clerk to provide advice to the Governing Body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.  She provides effective administrative support to the Governing Body and its Committees.

She has another role in school and works in the School Office.
