Laura Kennedy-Weeks  - Headteacher

Current Term of Office: September 2017 ongoing

Resources Committee and School Improvement Committee

As the Headteacher of Millfield First & Nursery School I am a member of the Governing Body of the School. This gives me the chance to meet with all the governors on a regular basis and work with them to make our school even better. I attend both the School Improvement and Resources Committees where all aspects of school life are discussed.

 

Alex Tomkins - Co-opted Governor - Chair of Governors

Current Term of Office: February 2020 to February 2024

Link Roles: Safeguarding / Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) / Children Looked After / Previously Looked After

Alex was welcomed onto the Governing Body as a Co-opted Governor in February 2016.  He has lived in Buntingford for a number of years and went to Millfield when he was younger. Currently he teaches SEND students in a Special School in Stevenage and has a Masters Degree in Special Needs. In his spare time he volunteers with Scouts, recently taking a number of young people to Japan to take part in a world jamboree. He is passionate about education for all and hopes to offer a valuable contribute to the governing body.

 

Alan Gardiner - Co-opted Governor - Vice-Chair of Governors

Current Term of Office: March 2019 to March 2023

School Improvement Committee - Chair

Link Role: English & the Arts Faculty

Alan was welcomed onto the Governing Body as Co-opted Governor in March 2019. He has been a local resident since March 2015.  Alan has many years of experience in education, teaching Year 1 to Year 6 pupils and is currently a Headteacher of a Primary school in Welwyn Garden City.  In his spare time he enjoys time with friends, family, walking and cycling.

 

Peter Godbert - Local Authority (LA) Governor

Current Term of Office: December 2017 to December 2021

School Improvement Committee

Link Role: Early Years Foundation Stage

Peter joined the governing body at Millfield in 2006.  He is currently the link governor for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).  Peter has previously served as Chair of Governors and Chair of School Improvement Committee.  Peter works as a manager of a small team of programmers developing statistical software which benefits his ICT work with the school.  Peter has three children who all attended Millfield in the past.  Peter is also an Elder of Christ Church, United Reformed Church on Baldock Road and helps lead the Junior Church there.

 

Paul Hadley - Co-opted Governor

Current Term of Office: December 2018 to December 2022

Resources Committee - Vice-Chair

Link Role: Health & Safety

Paul is a Co-opted Governor who joined the Governing Body in 1997.  Living in Stevenage, Paul's links to Buntingford started when he worked for The Co-operative Group.  Paul is the longest serving Governor at Millfield and is currently Vice-Chair of the Resources Committee having held the role of Chair for many years.  Paul also served as Chair of Governors for a period of 5 years.

 

Fiona Judd - Parent Governor

Current Term of Office: April 2017 to April 2021

Link Role: Offsite Visits and Learning Outside the Classroom

Fiona is a Parent Governor who joined the Governing Body of Millfield School in April 2017. She is the link governor for Offsite Visits and Learning Outside the Classroom and also the governor link for Environment / Eco-Action Pupil Voice Group. Fiona has a degree in Psychology and has worked and volunteered for charities in London, she also has experience of working in social care. Fiona now works in project management for Hertfordshire County Council.  Fiona and her husband moved to Buntingford in 2014 and their two children attend Millfield School.

 

Kim Grogan - Co-opted Governor

Current Term of Office: March 2019 to March 2023

School Improvement Committee - Vice-Chair

Link Role: Maths, Science & Computing Faculty

Kim was welcomed onto the Governing Body as Co-opted Governor in March 2019 and is looking forward to working in the role of Governor. She moved to the town in 2016 and has a young son who will shortly be attending Pre-School. Kim works in the City of London and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Prior to this she trained and performed as a classical cellist. In addition to classical music, Kim enjoys reading, travelling and seeing friends and family in her spare time. 

 

Saylesh Nakum - Co-opted Governor

Current Term of Office: December 2018 to December 2022

Link Role: Governor Development Co-ordinator (GDC)

Saylesh has been involved with Millfield since 2005 when his eldest child started in Reception Class.  Saylesh has recently served as Chair of Governors.  Saylesh was educated at Loughborough University and has worked in the software industry ever since.  He moved to Buntingford in 1998 after joining a company in Cambridgeshire.  Saylesh enjoys spending time with his family and friends and likes walks in the local countryside, sports (badminton, running and cycling) and music.

 

Victoria Tetley - Staff Governor

Current Term of Office: April 2019 to April 2023

School Improvement Committee

Link Roles: Equality

Victoria joined the governing body in April 2019 and works on the School Improvement Committee.  She is the Early Years Team Leader and teaches in one of our Reception classes.  As a staff governor, she is able to share views and ideas from the viewpoint of a member of staff to help develop the school.

    

Mike Kelly - Parent Governor

Current Term of Office: December 2019 to November 2023

Resources Committee

Link Roles: Pupil Premium / Sports Premium

Mike is a parent governor who joined in December 2019 and is working on the Resources.  Mike has a background working in education.  Mike's child attends Millfield within the Early Years Key Stage.

 

Sharon Chivers - Clerk to the Governing Body

Mrs Chivers works as a Clerk to provide advice to the Governing Body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.  She provides effective administrative support to the Governing Body and its Committees.

 

She has another role in school and works in the School Office.
