Induction Modifications

Due to COVID-19 there are unfortunately limitations in what we can offer in the Summer term 2020 as induction or transitional activities for parents/carers and children, who will be joining us or moving to the next year group within the EYFS in September 2020. Email communication will provide parents/carers with relevant information and we will endeavour to modify are normal practice to best support your child during this time. Our website will include a wide range of information to support this process - all of which will be highlighted through our communications with parents/carers. We currently do not know what Millfield will be able to offer children in September 2020 - this will be dependent on Government guidance and will be confirmed with parents/carers of Millfield children in due course.

Please see our Presentation Slides for the 2020-21 parent/carer induction. These would normally be presented to parents/carers during the induction visit in the Summer term by the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and EYFS Team Leader.

Tapestry

Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us.

This system allows us to work with parents and carers to share information and record the children’s play and learning in and outside of the classroom.

Tapestry is a website which can be accessed on a computer or laptop, and also on any Apple or Android device such as a tablet or smart phone.

What is the Tapestry website address?

The Tapestry website can be accessed by going to tapestryjournal.com

How does Tapestry Work?

Tapestry provides each individual child with their own Learning Journal held online. Parents and carers are given their own log-in using their email and password (which is pre-set by us but can be changed by you to make it more secure). All our staff are given a secure log-in. They can then upload observations, photos or videos; recording children’s achievements and assessing their learning in reference to the EYFS curriculum.

Since beginning to use Tapestry, parents find Tapestry:
- Easy to use
- Informative of their children’s learning and development
- An enjoyable insight into their school life.

Parents are also able to upload their own photographs and videos, as well as comment on observations added from school. Please do take advantage of this feature as the children enjoy sharing their home experiences with their peers.
