Year 4 Learning
Fri 09 Oct 2026Year 4 learnt all about Ancient Egyptian mummification, discovering the secrets of preserving a body for the afterlife. Luckily, no classmates were mummified during the lesson! The photographs show the children getting stuck into their learning and becoming expert embalmers for the day.

Nursery and Reception Coffee Morning
Fri 09 Oct 2026Thank you to our new Nursery and Reception parents who joined us for a coffee morning this week. It was lovely for Millfield staff to have the opportunity to chat and get to know our families, and we look forward to offering further parent events throughout the school year.
It was also great to share one of our key priorities for this year, focusing on Discovery Learning, and how this will support children in developing curiosity, independence and a love of learning.
A particular highlight was hearing from a group of Year 2 and Year 4 children, who confidently shared information about our school values and Positive Learning Powers with parents of our younger children. They represented the school brilliantly, and we were very proud of them.

Reception Police Visit
Fri 09 Oct 2026Reception enjoyed a visit from a PCSO, who brought along a police vehicle for the children to explore. The visit helped the children learn about the important role of the police in keeping our community safe and there was lots of excitement when they got a closer look at the vehicle! 🚓👮

🔥 Year 2 Great Fire of London Workshop: Year 2 children are getting ready to step back in time for an exciting Great Fire of London workshop! They’ll experience history come to life through hands-on activities and storytelling. Please see the email for further details.
👮♂️🚓 Reception Police Visit: We are looking forward to welcoming our PCSO, who will be visiting our Reception classes. During the visit, children will learn about the role of a PCSO, how the police help people in our community and how to stay safe. It will be a fantastic opportunity for the children to ask questions and learn more about the important work they do.
Tuesday
9:00 – 10:00am Mini Millfield: We are looking forward to welcoming families to our next Mini Millfield session for children aged birth to 4 years. Little ones can enjoy messy play, music, stories and a snack – all for just £1 per child. No booking required – just come along. We can’t wait to see you!

- Please ensure your child is wearing the correct school uniform, including wearing or bringing in their school cardigan or jumper.
- Year 4 children have PE on Wednesdays : For today only, Year 4 children need to wear school uniform to school. Please ensure your child brings their PE kit (in a named bag) with them so they can change into their kit for their PE lesson. Children will then go home in their PE kits with their school uniform in their named bag.
- Reception children have PE on Wednesdays: For today only, Reception children need to wear school uniform to school. They do not need to bring PE kit on this day; please see Tapestry.

📊 Attendance Update 🌟
Fri 02 Oct 2026Whole school attendance this week was 94.39%. Well done 👏 to Oak Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 97.7% 🏆🎉.

National Poetry Day
Fri 02 Oct 2026It was a real joy to take part in National Poetry Day this week. The children were greeted with secret poems in their classroom, which sparked lots of curiosity and conversation. The children embraced the opportunity to read, write and perform their own creative poems, exploring language in imaginative and thoughtful ways. They especially enjoyed sharing poems with their friends. It was a lovely day filled with creativity, confidence and lots of smiles!

PTA Cress Head Competition

All entries were celebrated in class today, with class winners announced and prizes awarded. Thank you for supporting this PTA event and well done to everyone who took part. 🌱🏆

🌾Harvest Donations for Buntingford Food Support
Fri 02 Oct 2026A huge thank you to everyone who donated food as part of our Harvest celebrations. We are truly overwhelmed by the incredible amount collected for Buntingford Food Support.
During our Harvest Assembly, we reflected on the importance of kindness, gratitude and helping those in our local community. It was wonderful to see our school values being brought to life through such generous donations from our children and families.

Celebrating Our New Pupil Voice Groups
Fri 25 Sep 2026Today, we held a fantastic assembly to celebrate the launch of our new Pupil Voice Groups. It was wonderful to see our children demonstrating our school values of being Respectful, Determined and Proud as they enthusiastically cheered on their peers who were selected to join the various groups.
Our Pupil Voice Groups provide children with valuable opportunities to share their ideas, lead initiatives and make a meaningful contribution to our school community. We are incredibly proud of everyone who put themselves forward and are excited to see the positive impact these groups will have throughout the year.
We look forward to sharing updates on their work and celebrating their achievements in the months ahead!
