Year 4 had fun looking at positive and negative features of a natural habitat in Buntingford this morning. They identified that litter, people walking on verges and graffiti all have a negative impact and that plants, the river, trees and wildlife are all positive features in a habitat.
Willow Class shared a fantastic assembly this morning, full of creativity and confidence. Their engaging ‘breaking news’ style presentation kept everyone hooked as they showcased their learning in Maths, English and Art.
The children spoke clearly and proudly about their work, demonstrating great understanding and enthusiasm. They delivered the assembly brilliantly and were a real credit to the school. Well done Willow Class!
Rowan Class treated us to a truly wonderful assembly. They confidently shared their learning across a range of subjects, including history, French and English, showcasing both their knowledge and enthusiasm. The children led the assembly independently with great pride and maturity and were a real credit to the school.
Year 4 Ash class stepped back in time this week as they explored the natural dyes used by the Anglo-Saxons. Inspired by these traditional methods, they experimented with modern-day natural ingredients including turmeric, beetroot and blackberries to create their own vibrant colours.
There was lots of excitement as they dyed their cloths and discovered the different shades each ingredient produced. It’s safe to say it was great fun, especially as the colours didn’t just stay on the fabric, but on their hands too!
Our Peer Mentor group were delighted to welcome the Computing, PE & PSHE Link Governor into school today. They proudly shared their important role as buddies, explaining how they support other children, help them feel safe and included and set a positive example at lunchtimes. It was a lovely opportunity to showcase their confidence, responsibility and the care they show for others.
Tilly had a wonderful time today helping the Reception children during their PE lesson! 🐾 She was amazingly calm and friendly, bringing lots of smiles while supporting and encouraging the children. Tilly was a true paws‑itive role model. Well done, Reception & Tilly! 🐾🐾
As part of their learning about microhabitats, Year 2 children explored the school environment and discovered many dandelions growing. The children thought this would be a great learning opportunity and decided to make dandelion “honey” as part of their work. They thoroughly enjoyed the process and loved tasting the final product. The children were very proud of what they had made and can highly recommend this recipe!
We were delighted to recently welcome the headteacher from Tannery Drift First School to Millfield as part of our local school collaboration.
During the visit, the headteacher made some wonderful observations about our school. She commented that ‘on-task behaviour is phenomenal’ and that ‘expectations are so explicit and consistent, this helps all children to thrive and feel confident to discuss their learning.’
