  • Holiday Club

    We would like to remind families about the Millfield Holiday Club running during the weeks commencing 10th August and 17th August 2026. Bookings remain lower than expected, and while we are keen for the club to go ahead, low numbers may affect its operation. If you are considering booking, please do so by Friday 3rd July to secure your place and support the club running. Please see the Holiday Club poster or previous emails for full details.

    Whole school attendance this week was 90.46%. Well done πŸ‘ to Ash Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 97.3% πŸ†πŸŽ‰.

  • Reception 2026-27 Coffee Morning Induction

    Thank you to our new Reception parents/carers who joined us for a coffee morning this week. It was lovely for Millfield staff to meet with current Millfield parents and have the opportunity to chat and get to know new parents.

  • Design & Technology Day

    We recently held our Design and Technology (D&T) Day, where the children began working on exciting projects inspired by traditional fairy tales. Due to the extreme heat this week, some classes will be completing this learning at an alternative time to ensure everyone can fully engage. Those who have already taken part were highly engaged and showed great creativity, producing some fantastic outcomes. We look forward to seeing the rest of the children complete their projects soon. Thank you for your kind donations of cardboard boxes and egg boxes so these projects could get underway!

  • National Writing Day

    As part of celebrating National Writing Day, we celebrated the children’s efforts and showcased their writing across the school. Writing from each year is displayed in the hall for all to enjoy. We were delighted to celebrate the children’s creativity and hard work!

  • Year 3 River Ouse Trip

    We are delighted to share that the Year 3 River Ouse trip this week was a great success. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially the adventure of travelling by boat, which brought their river learning to life in a memorable and engaging way. We are incredibly proud of how well the children represented our school; they demonstrated excellent behaviour, curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the trip.

    Summer Reading Challenge Assembly: Buntingford Library will be providing an assembly to promote the Summer Reading Challenge and sharing a selection of the library’s favourite books.

    Tuesday

    ⏰9:00–10:00am Mini Millfield: We are looking forward to welcoming families to our next Mini Millfield session for children aged birth to 4 years. Little ones can enjoy messy play, music, stories and a snack – all for just £2 per family. No booking required – just come along. We can’t wait to see you!

    Wednesday

    National Writing Day: As part of celebrating National Writing Day, we will be celebrating the children’s efforts and showcasing their writing across the school. Writing from each class will be displayed in the hall for all to enjoy. We look forward to celebrating the children’s creativity and hard work!

     

    Design & Technology Day: We will be taking part in a special Design and Technology (D&T) day, where all year groups will be working on exciting projects inspired by traditional fairy tales. To help make this a success, we would be very grateful if you could send in some cardboard egg boxes and cereal boxes to help with this creative learning.

     

    Reception Local Area Learning: Children in Reception will be going on a local walk as part of their learning, where they will be focusing on developing their early mapping skills. The children will explore the local area, notice key features and landmarks, and begin to understand how places can be represented on a map.

     

    3:15pm Ice Pop Sale: We will be selling ice pops outside the Year 2 classrooms after school for 50p each. Please note, exact cash only.

    Thursday

    9:00am Reception 2026-27 Induction Coffee morning: We are excited to welcome the parents/carers of children who are joining our Reception cohort in September 2026. We look forward to welcoming you all to Millfield.

     

    Year 1 Hatfield Forest Trip: For Year 1 parents/carers, please see the email previously sent for more information.

     

    3:20pm – 3:45pm: Book Fair in the school hall. Please enter and exit through the car park entrance. Please see the letter sent out for more information.

    3:15pm Ice Pop Sale: We will be selling ice pops outside the Year 2 classrooms after school for 50p each. Please note, exact cash only.

    An Amber Heat Health Alert from Hertfordshire County Council is currently in place.

     

    We will be taking measures such as ventilating rooms, switching off electrical devices, closing blinds and keeping children out of direct sun.

     

    What you can do to help:

    • Ensure your child brings a water bottle with them every day.
    • Ensure you apply suncream before school to your child.
    • Ensure your child brings a sun hat.

     

    For next week, children are welcome to wear their PE kit (even if it is not their PE day) or summer school uniform to keep as cool as possible.
