    School Dog Assembly: As Blue develops his therapy dog training it is time for children and staff to learn more about the role of an assistance dog and how they can now help with his training.

    Year 2 Cambridge Botanic Gardens: please see the letter previously sent out for more information.

     

    School Uniform Sale: New school uniform will be for sale on the playground outside the Year 4 Classrooms afterschool (cash or cheque only). This includes:

    • Jumpers at £10
    • Cardigans at £10
    • Drawstring bags at £3

    Thursday

    Half Term Award Assemblies for children in school.

     

    Half term holiday begins.

    School finishes at 3:15pm.

    All after school clubs remain open as normal.

    Inset Day: School closed for children.

     

    We were recently visited by Cllr Duncan Wallace, the Town Mayor of Buntingford, who invited Millfield children and staff to support the up and coming Ford RideLondon Classique Cycle Event. Millfield has a planned INSET day scheduled on the day of this event so we are unfortunately unable to attend as a whole school. However, please see the message below from Cllr Duncan Wallace inviting the school community to this event:

     

    The Ford RideLondon Classique Cycle Event is coming to Buntingford on Friday 24th May for the first time. The world’s best female cyclists will be racing through the town and East Herts villages. It is anticipated that the race will come through the town between 11:15am and 11:45am. We invite all to come and enjoy this spectacle and cheer them on. To find out more visit orlo.uk/BYbmY 


    We hope you thoroughly enjoy this event if you are able to attend.

    Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 95.4%. Well done to Maple Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 99% – well done!

    Year 1 Trip to Hatfield Forest:

    The year 1 children had a fantastic day at Hatfield Forest where they participated in activities, including a nature walk, creative workshop and nature mindfulness. The activities were thoroughly enjoyed by all the children who were very engaged and represent Millfield with our school values. Well done Year 1!

    Due to a busy schedule, Sir Oliver Heald has rearranged his visit to Millfield, we look forward to welcoming him towards the end of June.

  • School Council visit to Layston Grove

    Tue 14 May 2024

    This morning Layston Grove welcomed Millfield School Council, as well as Blue, one of our school therapy dogs, to the care home. The children read stories and chatted to the residents. Thank you very much for the lovely warm welcome we received. We are very much looking forward to visiting again soon.

    School Council visit to Layston Grove Care Home: The school council children will be attending Layston Grove Care Home along with our school dog, Blue. They will be sharing a selection of their favourite books and reading with the residents.

    Wednesday

    Ready for Nursery sessions for September 2024: Millfield will be holding a stay and play group sessions for children starting Nursery in September. These sessions will encourage the children to explore and get a feel for the school environment. We look forward to welcoming new children and parents to Millfield.

    Thursday

    Year 1 Multi-Skills Event: Year 1 children will be taking part in a multi-skills festival at Layston First School. This event will take place in the morning, during school time. Millfield staff will walk children to and from the event. Children will need to wear PE kits to school today. Please see more information posted on Tapestry.

    Friday

    School Visit: Rt Hon Sir Oliver Heald, who is the Conservative MP for North East Hertfordshire, is visiting Millfield for a tour of the school and to speak to children, staff and governors.

    Year 1 Trip to Hatfield Forest: Year 1 children and staff are very excited for their trip to Hatfield Forest. Please see further information within the letter sent out.

    Willow and Rowan Buntingford Walks: Year 3 children very much enjoyed their local walk of Buntingford. They were keen to point out and learn about the historical buildings which they are currently learning about in History. Children looked super and represented Millfield very well in new hi-vis jackets!

    Year 4 Times table Rockstar Day: It was wonderful to see the great efforts Year 4 children made to look like ‘Rockstars’ for this times table day. The children had a fantastic day engaging and taking part in a range of fun and exciting times table games to help them prepare for the Summer statutory check.

    Year 1 Phonics Workshop: It was great to invite Year 1 parents/carers into school this week. Mrs Gilbert and Miss Phillips shared information about the statutory Year 1 phonics screening check that will take place in June 2024. Year 1 children took home an information sheet to support parents/carers. This will also be posted on the website within the Year Group Pages: https://www.millfield.herts.sch.uk/year-1/
