Thursday	🌏 Year 2 China Experience Morning: As part of our Geography learning about China, Year 2 will be taking part in a China Experience Morning. Children will enjoy a range of traditional Chinese activities, including tasting Chinese foods 🥟, writing a lucky wish for Chinese New Year ✨, learning some Mandarin calligraphy ✍️ and creating a Chinese lantern 🎨🏮.
Friday	🕣 8:45 – 9:00am Family Friday Handwriting Session As scheduled, we look forward to welcoming Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 parents/carers to our Family Friday session for you to learn alongside your child. 🎉Celebration Assembly for Millfield children

Whole school attendance this week was 93.64%. Well done 👏 to Cherry Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 96.8% 🏆🎉.

🏔️ An Adventurous Afternoon in Year 2 🧭

Year 2 were treated to a visit from a real-life explorer 🌍! He climbed to Base Camp at Mount Everest in 2023 ⛰️❄️. The children loved hearing all about his exciting adventures and asked lots of fantastic questions. ✨

🐦 RSPB Big Schools Bird Watch

🌿 The Eco-Action pupil voice group took part in the RSPB Big Schools Bird Watch this week! It was a fun and educational event where children spent time spotting and recording local birds which will help scientists track bird populations. It was a great opportunity to get outdoors and connect with nature. They had a fantastic time seeing how many different birds they could spot at Millfield! 💚

National Handwriting Day

It was wonderful to welcome parents/carers into school to celebrate National Handwriting Day today. ✏️✨

The children were so excited to share their learning and proudly showed how they have been focusing in class on letter formation and neat presentation. There was a real buzz in the school as families joined in, admired the progress being made and saw first-hand how hard the children have been practising.🌟

Monday	Art Competition Assembly: 🎨✨ Members of the Art Faculty will be sharing with the children all the fun ways they explore and develop their art skills. 🖌️🎨 Children will also get a sneak peek 👀 at this term’s Art Competition 🏆, inspiring everyone to get creative 🌈 and enjoy making their own masterpieces! 🖼️✨
Tuesday	🌿 Eco Action Team: RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch 🐦: Our Eco Action Team will be taking part in the RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch, a national event that encourages children to observe and learn about the birds in our school environment. The children will be exploring the school grounds, as well as spotting and counting different birds. A lovely opportunity for outdoor learning, teamwork and connecting with nature! 💚
