Celebrating our Key Stage Award Assemblies

Today, we proudly held our Key Stage Award Assemblies – a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the learning, growth and achievements of children across the school.

As well as recognising the progress and successes of all pupils, we also highlighted those who received the half-termly awards. The reasons for these awards were wide-ranging, but a common theme ran through them all: our school values and our positive learning powers.

A huge well done to all our children for showing such determination and a positive approach to their learning. Your hard work and resilience are something to be proud of.

Millfield staff are incredibly proud of the achievements of children this half term, as well as over the school year – well done, everyone!

    A Special Visit to Millfield

We were delighted to welcome our local MP, Chris Hinchliff, to Millfield yesterday. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the wonderful work happening in our school every day. He had the chance to see first-hand our children learning, engaging and clearly enjoying their time at school.

We were proud to hear him describe Millfield as ‘brilliant’ – a reflection of the dedication and enthusiasm of our children, staff and governors. Everyone should feel extremely proud of themselves for the positive impression they made.

During his visit, our MP also took the time to listen carefully to some of the challenges we are currently facing, particularly around the issue of an increase in local school places at a time of declining national birth rates. We truly appreciate his attention to these important concerns.

A big thank you to all the children, staff and governors who helped make the visit so memorable.

    Transition

The children thoroughly enjoyed their transition sessions this week, spending time with their new teachers, support staff, and classmates. They took part in a variety of fun, ‘get to know you’ activities, and there was a real buzz of excitement throughout the school. In the lead-up to the session, children met with their current teachers to discuss key information about the year ahead, helping them feel prepared and confident for the changes to come.

Year 4 had an especially exciting day, visiting their new schools and getting a fantastic glimpse into the next step of their school journey.
