Edwintree Readers’ Visit
It has been a delight to welcome Edwinstree children to Millfield over this term. It has been such a positive experience for everyone involved! Millfield children have thoroughly enjoyed reading with their Edwinstree peers. The visits have not only fostered a love of reading but also provided a great opportunity for our children to meet staff from another school and strengthen the connection between our schools. We look forward to continuing to build our links with Edwinstree.
Faiza Spittles Visit to Year 3
Thank you to Faiza Spittles for joining us in Year 3 today. This term, our Year 3 children have been learning about Islam and exploring the Quran, including how it is used in daily life. Faiza supported the children by sharing a wealth of experience and interesting facts.
Family Friday Sessions
Thank you for your support with Family Friday Sessions this half term. We hope that the sessions have been helpful, and that your child has been able to share some useful tips and strategies to support their spelling at home.
We will continue to offer Family Friday Sessions and looking ahead to next half term (Summer 1), the focus of these sessions will be Phonics in Year 1 and Reading in Years 2 to 4. In addition, Reception will continue with their ‘love of books’ focus.
Governor Open Morning
We recently held a Governors' Open Morning at Millfield which was a wonderful event. Our governors had the opportunity to view the school in action, and they were thoroughly impressed with what they saw.
They particularly noted the focus and motivation of the children, as well as their engagement with the learning activities. Additionally, the governors praised the exemplary behaviour demonstrated by all pupils throughout the morning.
It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the positive atmosphere at Millfield, and we are proud of the efforts and enthusiasm shown by both children and staff. Thank you to Millfield Governors for their commitment and support to Millfield.

To support families that live further away, the Co-op has kindly agreed to allow the use of their car park for drop-off and pick-up during the Sustrans event, provided there are available spaces. Please note that there is a 90-minute parking limit, after which a fine will be issued. Parents are welcome to shop within the 90-minute period, but this is entirely optional. Site Developments
Thank you for your understanding during the installation of our two new canopies. Children and staff are thrilled with these extended spaces and are in the process of sharing their thoughts regarding furniture and resources. We will keep you posted as these new spaces develop.
We are pleased to share that the installation of the hall floor will begin next week.
Alice Hemming Author Visit
Millfield children thoroughly enjoyed Alice’s visit this week. EYFS, KS1 and KS2 children all took part in a fun and engaging workshop based on storytelling with their classes, exploring the magic of stories through creative activities and group participation. The children were inspired by Alice’s visit and loved engaging with her stories. Alice thanked Millfield staff and children for their warm welcome and passion for learning. Many thanks to Mrs Lewis for arranging this exciting opportunity!
Please remember lost property is put out each Friday in the Office corridor so if you have lost an item that is not named, please do come and have a look. Any uniform not claimed will be recycled at the end of term.
Red Nose Day
It was wonderful to see Millfield filled with red today in support of Comic Relief! The children had a fantastic time sharing their jokes with their classes, filling the day with fun and laughter. Here are a few of our favourites:
Why did the scarecrow win an award?
Because he was outstanding in his field!
Why couldn’t the bicycle stand up by itself?
Because it was two-tired!
What do you call a bear with no teeth?
A gummy bear!
At the time of writing, we have raised an incredible £117—thank you so much for your generosity and support! Your donations will make a real difference.
