  Year 1 Trip to Hatfield Forest

  The year 1 children had a fantastic day at Hatfield Forest where they participated in activities, including a nature walk, creative workshop and nature mindfulness. The activities were thoroughly enjoyed by all the children who were very engaged and represent Millfield with our school values. Well done Year 1!

  National Statutory Multiplication Tables Check: Year 4 Millfield children will be taking part in the statutory Multiplication Tables Check this week.
  Monday	Welcome back to the start of the second summer half term!
  Tuesday
  Wednesday	Class Photographs: All children will have their class photo taken today. Please ensure children are wearing their full school uniform.   Children in Year 2 and Year 4 will still have PE on this day; please ensure your child is wearing their school uniform to school and that they bring their PE kit in a named bag.
  Thursday	3:20 – 3:40pm Book Fair in the school hall: Please enter and exit via the external carpark doors.
  Friday	8:45 – 9:00am Family Friday Session: We look forward to welcoming parents and carers to our Family Friday Session for you to learn alongside your child.   Year 3 Walk of Buntingford: Willow and Rowan classes will be taking part in a historical walk of Buntingford, where they will learn about the town’s key historical buildings.   Edwinstree readers will be visiting Millfield weekly to read with a range of KS1 and KS2 children.   3:20 – 3:40pm Book Fair in the school hall: Please enter and exit via the external carpark doors.

  Nursery Stay & Play Sessions

  It was wonderful to welcome the children’s parents into school this week for the Nursery stay and play sessions. The children took great pride in their class and were keen to show parents their learning and play areas.

  Coffee Morning Induction for Nursery Starters in September 2025

  Thank you to our new Nursery parents/carers who joined us for our first coffee morning induction session. It was lovely for Millfield staff to have the opportunity to chat and get to know our new parents/carers. We look forward to offering further induction events during the Summer Term.

  Monday	10:30am – 11:30am & 2:00pm – 3:00pm Nursey Stay & Play Sessions: For Nursery parents/carers, please see communication from the Nursery team for your allocated time.     World Cultural Diversity Day will be celebrated at Millfield today. Children will take part in an assembly all about how ‘We are all different’.
  Tuesday	9:00am Coffee Morning Induction for Nursery Starters for September 2025:  We’re excited to welcome parents/carers to our Coffee Morning Induction Session as we get ready for the start of Nursery in September 2025. This is a great opportunity to meet some of the Millfield team and ask questions.

  Thursday	Year 1 Trip to Hatfield Forest: Year 1 children and staff are very excited for their trip to Hatfield Forest. Please see further information within the letter sent out.   Half Term Award Assemblies for children in school.   School finishes at 3:15pm. All after school clubs remain open as normal.
  Friday	Inset Day: School closed for children.

  PTA Discos

  A big thank you to the Millfield PTA for organising such fantastic discos for our Reception, KS1 and KS2 children! The children had a brilliant time showing off their dance moves and enjoying fun-filled moments with their friends. We truly appreciate all the effort that went into making the events special!

  Ready for Nursery Sessions

  The Nursery Team had a lovely time meeting our new children and their parents/carers ahead of starting Nursery in September 2025. We look forward to beginning this journey with you all and seeing parents again at the upcoming coffee morning for Nursery starters in September 2025.

  Year 1 Multi-Skills Event

  Year 1 children had a fantastic morning taking part in a Multi-Skills Festival at Layston First School. The children enjoyed a variety of activities including hurdles, football skills, relay races and more! A big thank you to the Sports Partnership and Millfield’s PE Faculty for organising such a fun and active event!

  Monday	KS1 & KS2 Sport Assembly all about working together as a team.

  Wednesday
  Thursday	Year 1 children will be participating in a Multi-Skills Festival at Layston First School. The event will take place in the morning during school hours. Millfield staff will walk the children to and from the event. For Year 1 parents, please ensure your child comes to school wearing their PE kit, brings a water bottle and a raincoat, in case of wet weather.
  Friday	Family Friday Session: We look forward to welcoming parents and carers to our Family Friday Session for you to learn alongside your child.   Edwinstree readers will be visiting Millfield weekly to read with a range of KS1 and KS2 children.   Mini Disco Fun for Reception during the afternoon! There will be a special mini disco just for Reception children during the afternoon in school. Children are welcome to bring party clothes in a named bag if they’d like to get changed before the disco.   3:15 – 4:45pm KS1 PTA Disco is always a popular event and the children enjoy showing of their dance moves and having a good time with their friends. Please see the email sent out for further information and booking details.
