Whole school attendance this week was 97.56%. Well done 👏 to Willow Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 98.67% 🏆🎉.
Reception were very fortunate to have the opportunity to welcome some baby ducklings into class. The children were very excited and sat beautifully as we learned all about the life cycle of a duck. We even had the chance to stroke the ducklings and handled them with care. This has been an excellent opportunity for the children to enhance their current learning all about life cycles and new life.
A big thank you to Miss Howard for making this happen and for teaching us some new facts about ducklings!
Year 4 enjoyed the first half of their team‑building activities today, focusing on key skills, such as resilience, perseverance, communication and collaboration. They worked in teams to build the tallest possible free‑standing tower using only spaghetti and marshmallows, where effective teamwork was the main goal. The children impressed us with their creative structures (and learned that triangles are the strongest shape!) while demonstrating excellent listening, cooperation and support for one another. Everyone showed great responsibility during the clean‑up, a fantastic effort all round.
This half term, Year 3 have started netball lessons and they are already showing great enthusiasm. We would like to thank the Sports Partnership for coming into school to coach the children and support the development of their skills.
During the sessions, children are learning and practising key netball skills, such as passing, footwork, shooting, positioning, teamwork and communication. As their confidence grows, they will also have the opportunity to play small-sided matches, allowing them to apply what they have learned in a fun and supportive environment.
We are really looking forward to seeing Year 3 continue to develop their netball skills over the coming weeks.
This week, Millfield children were delighted to enjoy two live performances by folk duo Megson. Stu played guitar and mandolin alongside Debbie on accordion and kazoo, providing lively accompaniment to their beautiful vocal harmonies. The concerts were highly interactive, with children enthusiastically joining in, singing along and quickly learning the actions to Megson’s songs.
You can listen to a sample of their music using the links below:

Now that the weather is getting warmer, please can we remind you to ensure that all children’s clothing, especially jumpers and cardigans, are clearly named.
Please also ensure your child brings a sun hat to school and, where necessary, that sun cream is applied before the school day. As the weather can still be unpredictable, children should also bring a raincoat each day.
