Thank you for your continued support this week during the extreme temperatures, it has been greatly appreciated. We are incredibly proud of how well the children have coped, showing resilience and a positive attitude. With the forecast looking cooler next week, we are hopeful for more comfortable and manageable days ahead for everyone.
We would like to remind families about the Millfield Holiday Club running during the weeks commencing 10th August and 17th August 2026. Bookings remain lower than expected, and while we are keen for the club to go ahead, low numbers may affect its operation. If you are considering booking, please do so by Friday 3rd July to secure your place and support the club running. Please see the Holiday Club poster or previous emails for full details.
Whole school attendance this week was 90.46%. Well done π to Ash Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 97.3% ππ.
Thank you to our new Reception parents/carers who joined us for a coffee morning this week. It was lovely for Millfield staff to meet with current Millfield parents and have the opportunity to chat and get to know new parents.
We recently held our Design and Technology (D&T) Day, where the children began working on exciting projects inspired by traditional fairy tales. Due to the extreme heat this week, some classes will be completing this learning at an alternative time to ensure everyone can fully engage. Those who have already taken part were highly engaged and showed great creativity, producing some fantastic outcomes. We look forward to seeing the rest of the children complete their projects soon. Thank you for your kind donations of cardboard boxes and egg boxes so these projects could get underway!
As part of celebrating National Writing Day, we celebrated the children’s efforts and showcased their writing across the school. Writing from each year is displayed in the hall for all to enjoy. We were delighted to celebrate the children’s creativity and hard work!
We are delighted to share that the Year 3 River Ouse trip this week was a great success. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially the adventure of travelling by boat, which brought their river learning to life in a memorable and engaging way. We are incredibly proud of how well the children represented our school; they demonstrated excellent behaviour, curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the trip.
