School Council visit Layston Grove!
Tue 25 Nov 2025Our Millfield School Council children had a fantastic visit to Layston Grove today, enjoying a festive Christmas craft session with the residents. 🎄✨
A big thank you to Layston Grove and all the residents for sharing such a warm and wonderful experience with us!

🍁 Maple Class Assembly for KS1 and KS2 Children 🎭✨
Maple Class will have opportunity to perform their class assembly to their peers; a wonderful chance to celebrate their learning and share their achievements.

🏫 School Council Visit to Layston Grove🐾
The school council children will be attending Layston Grove Care Home along with our school dog, Blue 🐶. They will be creating Christmas crafts with the residents.

⚽ Year 2 Football Festival 🏆🥅
A group of Year 2 children will be attending a Football Festival at St Edmund’s College. Parents and carers of participating children have been notified 📢.

We look forward to welcoming parents and carers to our Family Friday session for you to learn alongside your child.
📖Edwinstree Readers: Edwinstree children, accompanied by staff, will read with our KS2 children. This initiative helps promote a love of reading and provides valuable opportunities for partnership and collaboration between the schools.
🎉 Celebration Assembly for Millfield children.
🌟Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 95.83%. Well done to Willow Class🌳who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 99%.

🚨 Emergencies drills
Fri 21 Nov 2025As a school, we need to practise safety drills. We practise going outside for a fire drill, as well as moving to a safe space inside during a lockdown drill. Next week, we will hold class assemblies to remind children about these drills, as well as carry out a lockdown drill. Please see examples of some of the slides that we share with children.

Fri 21 Nov 2025As the weather has changed this week and we move into the colder months, please ensure your child comes to school in appropriate clothing, e.g. a winter coat, scarf, gloves and hat. Please also ensure all items are labelled so they can be returned if misplaced.

🏆 Speed Stacking
Fri 21 Nov 2025Today, a group of KS1 children took part in a Speed Stacking event led by the School Sports Partnership. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and represented the school brilliantly. 🎉👏

EYFS Tour
Fri 21 Nov 2025It was wonderful to welcome prospective parents/carers into Millfield this week for a tour of the school. 🔥Guy Fawkes Workshop 🎆
Fri 21 Nov 2025Year 1 children thoroughly enjoyed the Guy Fawkes workshop. They took part in a range of engaging activities, including games 🎲 and role-play 🎭, which helped bring the story to life. The factual events of the Gunpowder Plot were retold using puppets, a highlight that the children absolutely loved 💛.

Tuesday Wednesday Thursday 9:15am 2026-27 Nursery (2- & 3-year-olds) & Reception Prospective Parent/Carer Tour: Here at Millfield, we look forward to welcoming prospective parents with children starting school in September 2026 for a tour to see our school in action.

KS1 & 2 Dance Parties: Thank you to the Millfield PTA for arranging our KS1 and KS2 dance parties. It’s a great chance for the children to dance, have fun and spend time with friends. Please see the information sent out to book your child a place.

- 4:45pm – 6:00pm KS2 Dance Party🎵
🌟Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 94.34%. Well done to Ash Class🌳who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 97.86%.
