  • School Council visit Layston Grove!

    Our Millfield School Council children had a fantastic visit to Layston Grove today, enjoying a festive Christmas craft session with the residents. ๐ŸŽ„โœจ

    ๐Ÿ Maple Class Assembly for KS1 and KS2 Children ๐ŸŽญโœจ

    Maple Class will have opportunity to perform their class assembly to their peers; a wonderful chance to celebrate their learning and share their achievements.

    ๐Ÿซ School Council Visit to Layston Grove๐Ÿพ

    The school council children will be attending Layston Grove Care Home along with our school dog, Blue ๐Ÿถ. They will be creating Christmas crafts with the residents.

    โšฝ Year 2 Football Festival ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ…

    A group of Year 2 children will be attending a Football Festival at St Edmund’s College. Parents and carers of participating children have been notified ๐Ÿ“ข.

    We look forward to welcoming parents and carers to our Family Friday session for you to learn alongside your child.

     

    ๐Ÿ“–Edwinstree Readers: Edwinstree children, accompanied by staff, will read with our KS2 children. This initiative helps promote a love of reading and provides valuable opportunities for partnership and collaboration between the schools.

     

    ๐ŸŽ‰ Celebration Assembly for Millfield children.

    ๐ŸŒŸAttendance: Whole school attendance this week was 95.83%. Well done to Willow Class๐ŸŒณwho were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 99%.

     

  • ๐Ÿšจ Emergencies drills

    As a school, we need to practise safety drills. We practise going outside for a fire drill, as well as moving to a safe space inside during a lockdown drill. Next week, we will hold class assemblies to remind children about these drills, as well as carry out a lockdown drill. Please see examples of some of the slides that we share with children.

    As the weather has changed this week and we move into the colder months, please ensure your child comes to school in appropriate clothing, e.g. a winter coat, scarf, gloves and hat. Please also ensure all items are labelled so they can be returned if misplaced.

    Today, a group of KS1 children took part in a Speed Stacking event led by the School Sports Partnership. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and represented the school brilliantly. ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘

  • EYFS Tour

    It was wonderful to welcome prospective parents/carers into Millfield this week for a tour of the school. If you know of any local family or friends considering a school-based Nursery (2- and 3-year-olds) or have a Reception aged child for 2026-27, please direct them to https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/millfield-open-mornings-tickets-1416955414789 to book a place on a tour.   • ๐Ÿ”ฅGuy Fawkes Workshop ๐ŸŽ†

    Year 1 children thoroughly enjoyed the Guy Fawkes workshop. They took part in a range of engaging activities, including games ๐ŸŽฒ and role-play ๐ŸŽญ, which helped bring the story to life. The factual events of the Gunpowder Plot were retold using puppets, a highlight that the children absolutely loved ๐Ÿ’›.

    ๐ŸฅYear 1 and 2 Speed Stacking Event: A group of KS1 children will be attending a Speed Stacking event organised by the School Sports Partnership, taking place at Layston First School. Parents and carers of participating children have been notified via email.
