  EYFS Transition Sessions: It was wonderful to welcome children with their parents and carers into Nursery and Reception to support a smooth transition into their new classes. These early opportunities to explore the classroom environment together have really helped the children settle in with confidence. They are already building new friendships and getting to know one another. We're so pleased with how well they are adjusting and look forward to a great year ahead!

  KS1 & KS2 Meet the Teacher Session: It was lovely to welcome KS1 and KS2 parents and carers to our 'Meet the Teacher' session, held in classrooms after school on Thursday. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to see the classroom environment and for the children to proudly share their learning spaces.

  Extra-Curricular Clubs: There are still spaces available on the extra-curricular clubs. If you would like your child to attend, please book via Arbor by Sunday 15^th September. Please ensure you follow the full process when booking as without payment your child’s place will not be secured.

  A Great Start to the New School Year:

  What a fantastic first week we've had! It’s been wonderful to welcome all children to school and to see so many happy, smiling faces as they’ve settled into their new classes and routines.

   

  We’re incredibly proud of how confidently the children have started the year. Their enthusiasm, kindness and eagerness to learn have already set a positive tone for the term ahead.

   

  Thank you for your continued support in helping make this a smooth and successful start. We’re looking forward to a year filled with growth, learning and lots of exciting experiences!

  The Cabin Wrap Around Club opens for children from Monday morning; for information regarding booking, please see our website: The Cabin: Breakfast and After School Club | Millfield First and Nursery School   Extra-curricular after school clubs begin on the week commencing 15th September 2025.
  Monday	Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 children begin the new school year (8:45am – 3:15pm).   Reception Stay & Play Sessions (with parents): Please check your child’s individual transition arrangements.   Nursery Home Visits: Please check your visit day and time.   New School Year Assembly for KS1 & 2 children.
  Tuesday	Reception Transition Sessions (without parents): Apple Class children to arrive at 8:45am and be collected at 11:45am. Cherry Class children to arrive at 8:45am and be collected at 1:00pm as they will stay in school for lunch.   Nursery Home Visits: Please check your visit day and time.
  Wednesday	Reception Transition Sessions (without parents): Cherry Class children to arrive at 8:45am and be collected at 11:45am. Apple Class children to arrive at 8:45am and be collected at 1:00pm as they will stay in school for lunch.   Nursery Home Visits: Please check your visit day and time.
  Thursday	All Reception children will begin school full time; arrive at 8:45am and be collected at 3:15pm.   Nursery Stay & Play Sessions: Please check your child’s individual transition arrangements.   KS1 & KS2 Meet the Teacher event: Please collect your child as normal. Once all children have been collected, external classroom doors will re-open for parents/carers and children to visit new classrooms and say hello to teachers.
  Friday	Nursery Stay & Play Sessions: Please check your child’s individual transition arrangements.   Celebration Assembly for KS1 & 2 children.

  Message from the Year 3 Teaching Team

  Unfortunately, a healthy snack is not provided by the Government for children from Year 3. As a result, if your child would like a morning snack, please provide a healthy snack separate from their lunch for morning break e.g. fruit or vegetables. Thank you.

  Family Friday Sessions

  It was fantastic to welcome so many parents/carers to our Family Friday sessions throughout the last academic year. It was a great opportunity to share the children’s learning and for parents/carers to spend time in the classroom environment. We are currently reviewing the format of these sessions. We’ll be sharing more information with you soon – watch this space!

  We hope you’ve had a wonderful and restful summer holiday, filled with fun, adventure and special memories. As we begin a brand-new school year for children on Monday, Millfield staff are excited to welcome both familiar faces and new families to our school community.
