Our Year 1 children have been busy learning how to classify animals!
Through hands-on activities, they sorted common animals such as pets, farm animals and wild animals into groups by observing simple features like:
βοΈ Fur, feathers or scales
βοΈ Legs or wings
βοΈ Living on land or in water
The children also explored basic animal groups including mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians, talking about how animals are similar and how they are different.
By using sorting, observation and simple descriptions, the children are developing their understanding of the world around them in a fun and practical way. πβ¨
