  Monday	Harvest Donations: Please see the email sent out for more information. If you wish to donate any items that are listed in the email, please send them in with your child in the morning. Thank you.    Harvest Assembly for KS1 & 2 children in partnership with Buntingford Food Bank.
  Tuesday	Year 2 Great Fire of London Experience Day: Please see the email sent out for further information.
  Wednesday	Year 3 Stone Age Workshop: Please see the email sent out for further information.
  Thursday	Hello Yellow Day: Children and staff are invited to wear non-school uniform with yellow today! Please see the email sent out for further information. World Mental Health Day activities for children will take place in classes today.   SEND Coffee Morning: Allocated parents/carers have been sent an email invite, please see this for further information.   Herts Catering Limited Food Technology lessons with Willow & Rowan Classes: All ingredients etc will be provided. Cooking opportunities will be offered to all year groups over the school year.   11:00am Nursery (2 & 3 year olds) & Reception Prospective Parent/Carer Open Morning: Here at Millfield we look forward to welcoming prospective parents with children starting school in September 2025 for a tour.
  Friday	Friendship Ladders: KS1 & KS2 children will enjoy working in mixed aged groupings to learn all about safe networks. This is known as ‘Protective Behaviours’.

• Pupil Voice Groups

  Pupil Voice Group children were presented with their badges this week. We are very much looking forward to the work these groups will carry out this academic year. The children who represent their peers in these groups will ensure that the views of the children at Millfield have a clear forum; this helps to shape the direction of the school.

  

• Year 4 Class Assemblies

  Well done to Ash Class children who performed their Harvest assembly with enthusiasm this week. It was lovely to welcome parents to this event.

• Reception Coffee Morning

  Thank you to our new Reception parents who joined us for a coffee morning this week. It was lovely for Millfield staff to have the opportunity to chat and get to know our parents. We look forward to offering further parent events during the school year.

Refreshments will be available for parents/carers after the assembly.   KS1 Football Festival at King James Academy Royston: Please see the email sent out for more information.   Assembly to share Pupil Voice Groups at Millfield with KS1 & 2 children.
  Wednesday	Individual and Sibling Photographs. For children that have PE: For children in Nursery, Year 2 and Year 4 classes, please send your child into school in school uniform and bring their PE kits in a small bag.
  Thursday	National poetry day: We will be sharing poems in our classes today. We would like to invite children to bring in a poem, this maybe in a book or on a piece of paper, to share with their friends. We are looking forward to reading and sharing a variety of poetry with our children.
  Friday	6:00pm Online booking system opens to book parent/carer consultations.

• Parent/Carer Consultations:

  As shared within our school calendar, this term we will be holding our parent/carer consultations at Millfield with your child’s class teacher on Tuesday 22^nd October (3:30pm – 7:00pm) and Thursday 24^th October (3:30pm – 5:30pm).

   

  The online booking system opens on Friday 4^th October at 6pm and closes on Tuesday 16^th October at 10pm. Further information will be shared regarding booking appointments. Please note, in order for teachers to hold a meeting for every child, there is only availability for one meeting per child. For exceptional circumstances, please email your child’s class teacher.

  

• Healthy snacks

  It’s very important for children to re-fuel mid-morning by eating a healthy snack. For EYFS and KS1 children, this snack is provided by the Government. For KS2, if your child has a packed lunch, please ensure their mid-morning snack comes to school separately as they may not have access to their lunch box until lunchtime. Please remember, a healthy snack includes fruit or vegetables.  

  

• Herts Catering Limited Assembly

  Unfortunately, the Herts Catering Limited Assembly focusing on the topic of ‘Food Waste’ has been postponed; we look forward to rearranging this for KS1 & 2 children.

• Open Morning for Nursery (2 & 3 year olds) and Reception Prospective Parents

  It was wonderful to welcome prospective parents/carers into Millfield this week for a tour of the school. We still have availability in our open mornings on 10^th October, 11^th November and 28^th November 2024. If you know of any local family or friends considering a school-based Nursery (2- and 3-year-olds) or have a Reception aged child for 2025-26, please direct them to contact our school office on 01763 271717 to book a place.

  

• Social Media Forums

  We are aware there are parent social media forums such as WhatsApp groups for classes at Millfield that have been organised by parents. We appreciate that these can support parents e.g. with communicating reminders that the school has already shared. However, please be mindful that these groups are not organised or run by Millfield. The group should never be used as a platform to air views/grievances regarding members of staff, children or parents/carers. If parents have any school-based questions or concerns, please contact the school via the Class Teacher in the first instance.
