If you have any questions, please contact your child’s Class Teacher.
School Census Day: This is when schools must report, among other things, the number of children who have a school lunch. Please support us by ordering a school lunch for your child today. Please see the email sent out for more information. |

Books are used to support and engage children in a variety of subjects including English. Please see the books that children in Key Stage 2 classes are focussing their learning on this half term.
If your child has a copy of their class book at home and would like to bring it into school to use in their lessons, they are more than welcome to.
A ‘Meet the Teacher’ session has been arranged on Tuesday 23rd January 2024 at 3:20pm for Birch Class parents/carers to meet and have an informal chat with Mr Richardson if parents/carers would like to. Please collect your children as normal and then you are welcome to return through the same external Birch Classroom door once all children have been safely collected.
Millfield children have enthusiastically welcomed the new term; thinking carefully about collaborative new year resolutions. Children discussed pro-social behaviours, as well as our school values being excellent goals for the year as they guide us to support each other with all aspects of school life.

I hope you have enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and a warm welcome to the start of the Spring Term. Millfield staff are looking forward to seeing children back in school at the normal time of 8:45am on Monday 8th January 2024.
As we reach the end of the Autumn Term at Millfield, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate the many achievements and memorable moments that have made this term so special.
In today's assembly, I asked the children to reflect on their favourite moments from this term. It was a pleasure to hear their enthusiasm as they shared their highlights, which included unforgettable experience days, engaging food technology lessons, the joy of making new friends and the pride of earning house tokens for demonstrating our school values. These moments encapsulate the positive and vibrant spirit of our school community.
Last week's Playground Christmas Carols were a resounding success! It was a pleasure to see so many parents and carers join us for this festive event. It was a great experience for Key Stage 1 and 2 children to sing together, surrounded by such a large and supportive audience. Your presence added to the festive cheer!
A special thank you to the Millfield PTA for organising the Christmas Fair last week. The event was a tremendous success, and we are grateful to everyone who attended or generously contributed. Thanks to your support, the PTA raised an impressive total of £2100, which will go towards enhancing the educational experiences of our children.
We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 8th January 2024 for the start of the Spring term. Please look out on Friday 5th January 2024 for the Latest News for the first week back.
All staff at Millfield wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

What a fantastic week it has been at our school! The Nursery and Reception Nativity performances were a true delight. It was lovely to welcome parents and carers to these performances where the children impressed us all with their wonderful singing and acting skills.
The Christmas dinner day was a blast! The children thoroughly enjoyed their festive lunch with friends and Millfield staff. Thank you to Herts Catering Limited for providing this lovely opportunity for our children.
The Art Faculty had a challenge to select just one piece of artwork from each class for the Art Competition this half term. Well done to the winners who were announced this week, their artwork is proudly displayed in our Art Gallery in the hall.
The Friendship ladder Christmas craft activities were a big hit! It's clear the children had a fantastic time working with a range of children from across the school to explore and create Christmas decorations.
Congratulations to all the children who participated in the PTA Christmas colouring competition. The winners were announced in the Award Assemblies this morning.
This afternoon, we're excited to share our Playground Christmas carols with you. Following that, we have the PTA Christmas Fair to look forward to. A huge thank you to the PTA for their hard work and commitment to our school. We look forward to welcoming the school community to this event.

Children will be gathering on the playground between Year 3 and Year 4 classrooms where they will be facing the KS2 playground and school field. The woodland gate and field gate will be open to access the site for this event just before 2:45pm. This is a wonderful way for a large number of parents/carers to be part of a school event. We will ensure that children are wrapped up warm in their coats etc. If your child would like to bring in a Christmas item to wear whilst they sing, we would welcome this e.g. tinsel or a Christmas headband/hat.
