Millfield is proud to be part of the Barclays Girls' Football in Schools partnership, which supports equal access to football for girls. Through this programme, girls take part in high-quality football lessons within the PE curriculum, ensuring they develop skills, confidence and a love of the game during school time. This reflects our commitment to promoting equality, participation and opportunity for every child. We are very pleased to have been awarded a trophy in recognition of our dedication and commitment to this partnership. ⚽🏆
As part of World Book Day, Year 4 will be watching short clips to complement their ‘secret book’. The clips are from a well-known PG-rated film. As this is part of their secret book mission, we would like to keep this a surprise for the children. However, if you have any concerns about your child watching a PG clip, please speak to either Mrs Cranko or Miss Ridge.
We were delighted to welcome PCSO Glen Stanway to our Reception classes this week for a special visit focused on community safety and the important role of the police. During the session, PCSO Stanway spoke to the children about what a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) does and how the police help people in our local community. The children learned about ways to stay safe and who they can talk to if they need help. The visit was both informative and engaging, with children eagerly listening and asking questions.
This is what some of our Reception children said about the visit:
“I loved hearing the sirens and the flashing lights.”
“I want to be police officer.”
“I know what a police car looks like.”
It was a pleasure to welcome Freman College Big Band into Millfield for a special live music performance this week. During the session, the children had the opportunity to see and hear a wide range of instruments up close. The musicians explained how different sections of the band work together, helping children to recognise the unique sounds of brass, woodwind and rhythm instruments. This engaging and interactive experience supported our music curriculum and inspired children by bringing live performance into school.
🙏Thank you to Freman College for providing this opportunity.
We celebrated our half-termly Award Assemblies today 🎉. Well done to all Millfield children for your hard work, dedication and fantastic achievements.

This week we marked Safer Internet Day, the UK’s largest national event dedicated to promoting online safety. Each year, the day highlights an important digital issue, and this year’s theme is ‘Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.’
Children in both KS1 and KS2 took part in a special assembly exploring how technology, particularly AI, can be used positively and responsibly. Throughout the week, computing lessons built on this learning, helping children to develop safe, thoughtful and responsible behaviours online. By encouraging smart choices and open conversations, we are supporting our children to become confident and informed digital citizens. 🌐
