• 🎃Art Club:

  Over the last few weeks in Art Club, the children have created some fantastic clay pumpkins! Each one is so individual and the way they’ve been painted brings out their unique designs. Mrs Swift and Mrs Wasylyczyn were very impressed with the creativity, effort and attention detail shown in every piece. 🎃

  

• 🔥Great Fire of London Workshop

  It was wonderful to see our Year 2 children enjoying the Great Fire of London experience day this week. Such hands-on experiences are incredibly impactful in terms of supporting the learning and understanding of historical events. Weaving 🧶, candle making 🕯️, perfume making 🌸, leather stamping 🪶and writing using quills ✒️ were just some of the engaging activities completed by children. A big thank you to the Year 2 parents/carers who supported this event.

• 📖Reception Library Visits:

  We had a wonderful time taking our Reception children to Buntingford Library over the past two weeks! The children enjoyed exploring the library’s books and listening to a story read by the librarian, who also explained how to join the library. The children were full of curiosity and asked lots of questions about the library. A big thank you to all the parents who supported this visit, it was greatly appreciated!

   

  Looking for a fun, free activity to enjoy together this half term? Visit your local library and join My First Library Adventure! Explore hundreds of picture books, fact books and early reading stories to enjoy at home. Complete the Adventure for a chance to enter a special prize draw! Fifty lucky Reception pupils in Hertfordshire will win a personalised, signed book by author-illustrator Ged Adamson and two overall winners will enjoy an author visit with their whole class.

  Tuesday	📖 Reception Library Visit 🍎 Apple Class will be visiting Buntingford Library as part of the My First Library Adventure promotion. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to explore books, stories and the joy of reading!   3:30 – 7:00pm Parent/Carer Consultations: Meetings will be held in the hall. Please arrive via the main school office. Children’s learning will be shared by the Class Teacher for you to view in the hall.
  Wednesday	🔥 Year 2 Great Fire of London Workshop Year 2 children are getting ready to step back in time for an exciting Great Fire of London workshop led by History Off the Page! They’ll experience history come to life through hands-on activities and storytelling. Please see the previous letter for further details.
  Thursday	3:30 – 5:30pm Parent/Carer Consultations: Meetings will be held in the hall. Please arrive via the main school office. Children’s learning will be shared by the Class Teacher for you to view in the hall.   Year 2 PE Kits: Year 2 children need to come to school in their PE kits today, as they will have PE lessons today.
  Friday	🏆 Half Term Award Assemblies 🎉 We’re excited to celebrate the achievements of our children in school during our Half Term Award Assemblies. It’s a wonderful opportunity to recognise hard work, effort and all the fantastic things our pupils have been doing!   End of the first Autumn Half Term; School finishes at 3:15pm 🕒
  Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 96.87%.   It was fantastic to welcome so many parents/carers to our Family Friday Reading session this week! The session was a wonderful opportunity to share the children’s learning and progress, and for families to spend time together in the classroom environment.

• Millfield Book Fair 📚

  We’re thrilled to share that our recent Book Fair was a wonderful success for Millfield! This means that children will benefit from even more new and recommended books, which will be on display in our library and classrooms. A huge thank you to the English Faculty for organising the event and to all parents/carers and children who attended and purchased a book to enjoy.

  Monday	9:15am 2026-27 Nursery (2- & 3-year-olds) & Reception Prospective Parent/Carer Open Morning: Here at Millfield, we look forward to welcoming prospective parents with children starting school in September 2026 for a tour to see our school in action. Click here to book a place!   Ash Class Harvest Assembly – KS1 & KS2 Performance: Following their successful performance for parents and carers, Ash Class will present their Harvest Assembly once more – this time to an audience of KS1 and KS2 children.
