As the weather has changed this week and we move into the colder months, please ensure your child comes to school in appropriate clothing, e.g. a winter coat, scarf, gloves and hat. Please also ensure all items are labelled so they can be returned if misplaced.
Today, a group of KS1 children took part in a Speed Stacking event led by the School Sports Partnership. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and represented the school brilliantly. ππ
It was wonderful to welcome prospective parents/carers into Millfield this week for a tour of the school. If you know of any local family or friends considering a school-based Nursery (2- and 3-year-olds) or have a Reception aged child for 2026-27, please direct them to https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/millfield-open-mornings-tickets-1416955414789 to book a place on a tour. There are two remaining tours before admissions close on 15th January 2026:
Year 1 children thoroughly enjoyed the Guy Fawkes workshop. They took part in a range of engaging activities, including games π² and role-play π, which helped bring the story to life. The factual events of the Gunpowder Plot were retold using puppets, a highlight that the children absolutely loved π.
A huge thank you to all our parents and carers for your wonderful generosity for Children in Need. Thanks to your kind donations, we have raised an amazing £236 so far!
Your support helps make a real difference, and we are so grateful for the kindness and community spirit shown once again.

Children were sent home with a leaflet, including a return slip to ‘Decorate a Tree’ for Christmas. Please complete and return the slip by 28th November. Decorated trees will be displayed on your child’s class Christmas tree and returned home at the end of term. A prize will be awarded in each class for the most creative tree. This is an opportunity to add a new decoration to your collection following the successful ‘Decorate a Bauble’ fundraiser last year.
Odd Sock Day kicked off Anti-Bullying Week on Monday. It was lovely to see all the 'odd socks' around Millfield. It was a great way to celebrate what makes us all unique and supported children’s learning during Anti-Bullying Week.
Anti-Bullying Week has encouraged our children to celebrate differences and understand the importance of showing respect to everyone, which is one of our core school values. The focus on kindness and helping our friends has reminded everyone how small acts of care can make a big difference.
