10:30am – 11:30am & 2:00pm – 3:00pm Nursey Stay & Play Sessions: For Nursery parents/carers, please see communication from the Nursery team for your allocated time.
KS2 Flat Races: Children in Year 3 and Year 4 will take part in flat races today to earn points for their house teams. Children will need to come into school in their PE uniform, which they can wear all day as usual.

Teddy Bear Picnic for children starting in Reception from September 2025: We’re excited to welcome the new Reception cohort for September to a Teddy Bear Picnic with their parents. Children will enjoy exploring the EYFS outside area and will get to know Reception staff by reading stories on the field. Please enter the school site via the field pedestrian gate.

Year 4 Transition Day to Middle School.
Millfield Transition Session: We have planned a transition session for Millfield children to enjoy spending time in their new classrooms getting to know their new teacher and support staff.

8:45 – 9:00am Family Friday Session: We look forward to welcoming Reception to Year 4 parents and carers to our final Family Friday Session of the year for you to learn alongside your child.
3:45pm – 5:45pm PTA Summer Fair: The PTA are excited to be hosting Millfield Summer Fair. With the weather expected to be sunny, we hope you will come along, bring the whole family, and enjoy a lovely afternoon with the Millfield community. If you would like to help out or donate a prize, please contact birchclass@millfield.herts.sch.uk.
Please note this will be a cash-only event.
Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 95.3%. Well done to Maple Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 100%.

Fri 04 Jul 2025Bike/Scooter Rack
To ensure a safe front entrance to the school, the very small bike/scooter rack located by the main front entrance has been removed. However, please be assured, there is lots of room at our other bike rack locations (by The Cabin and the double field gates). Please ensure bikes and scooters are parked considerately against the racks or next to them if they are full. Thank you for your support.

Fri 04 Jul 2025KS1 & KS2 Sports Mornings
It has been a week full of sporting activities at Millfield. We have all been very proud of how children have participated within the range of sporting activities this week. Thank you to Millfield families for joining us and cheering the children on. The KS2 flat races will take place during the school day for children as soon as possible. We will count all the scores and share the winning House. The scores are very close, so watch this space!

Fri 04 Jul 2025Wrest Park Trip
Year 3 children thoroughly enjoyed themselves whilst visiting Wrest Park this week. The children had a fantastic time making clay money, exploring Roman life and culture, including looking at real and replica artefacts. This was followed by a walk and time spent at the play area within Wrest Park, where they also enjoyed a picnic. The children were brilliant representatives of Millfield. Well done Year 3 children!

Reception Police Visit
Thu 03 Jul 2025Millfield Reception children were thrilled to welcome Tor, a former detective, and Nina, a serving police officer, for a special visit.
Tor and Nina spoke to the children about the importance of staying safe and what to do if they ever get lost. The children then designed posters showing who can help us and who helps keep us safe in our community.
As part of this exciting hands-on experience, the children explored real police equipment, including handcuffs, a police hat, baton, and badge. The highlight of the visit was the chance to explore a real police car — and even hear the siren!
A huge thank you to Tor and Nina for providing such a fantastic and engaging learning experience for our Early Years children. Reception had a wonderful time and learned vital information about how to stay safe.

As scheduled, Class Teacher information for 2025-26 will be shared with parents/carers today. Children will be informed during the school day in preparation for the Transition session on Thursday next week.

PTA Non-Uniform Day: The PTA would like to invite children to participate in a non-uniform day in exchange for a donation to sell at the Summer Fair on Friday 11th July. Please see the email sent for more information. Please send in any donations with your child on the day.
Edwinstree readers will be visiting Millfield to read with a range of KS1 and KS2 children.
Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 93.4%. Well done to Rowan Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 96.88%.

Nursery School Trip:
Thu 26 Jun 2025We have heard that children and staff from Nursery are having an amazing day visiting Standalone Farm. They are having great fun exploring and learning about all the farm animals. The children are being great representatives of Millfield, well done Nursery children! Photos of the trip will be uploaded to Tapestry in due course.

Family Friday Sessions – Final Session of the Year:
Thu 26 Jun 2025It has been wonderful to see so many parents and carers joining us for the Family Friday sessions throughout this term. The children have really enjoyed the opportunity to share their learning with you, and they have spoken very positively about the experience. The final Family Friday session for this academic year will take place on Friday 11th July. We will be reviewing the success of this initiative and hope to plan something similar for parents and carers in the next academic year. Thank you for your continued support.

Coffee Morning Induction for Reception Starters in September 2025
Wed 25 Jun 2025Thank you to our new Reception parents/carers who joined us for our coffee morning induction session. It was lovely for Millfield staff to have the opportunity to chat and get to know our new parents/carers. We look forward to offering further transition events during the Summer Term and into the Autumn.
