VE Day Celebrations
We had a wonderful time celebrating VE Day at Millfield. The children worked brilliantly together to create beautiful window displays in their classrooms—we hope you enjoyed seeing them. Everyone looked fantastic dressed in red, white and blue, adding a vibrant touch to the day. The children shared a snack outside and later enjoyed a fantastic outdoor party filled with music, fun and lots of dancing! A huge thank you to the History Faculty for organising such a special event, helping us all to remember and honour an important moment in our history.
Football Tournament at Royston
On Tuesday 6th May allocated Year 3 and Year 4 children represented Millfield at a Football Tournament at Royston Town Football Club. We were very proud of their learning behaviours and the effort shown on the pitch playing together as a team which led to Millfield winning the tournament and bringing home the Trophy. Well done to the children and their coach Mr Rome, this is a great achievement!

International Day:
We’re delighted to share that our International Day event was a great success! The children had a fantastic time exploring different countries, learning about new cultures and getting involved in a range of creative activities. To celebrate each child's involvement, they will be receiving a special certificate next week.
Some of the exciting countries the children may have explored during the event include Norway, Kenya, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Mexico and Australia. We hope the children enjoy sharing what they have learned during their visits to these countries and telling you all about the wonderful experiences they had.
Please see the poster from the Buntingford Town Mayor, Councillor Duncan Wallace, sharing the up-and-coming VE Day events and celebrations in Buntingford. There is also an exhibition at the Manor House on the day and over the weekend from an educational perspective. Children may enjoy the street party aspect!
At Millfield, we are excited to share that we will be celebrating VE Day in school with the children through a variety of fun and educational activities. These will include making flags and bunting, as well as enjoying a special playground party to mark the occasion.
This celebration will take place on Thursday 8th May; we look forward to a memorable day for all the children as they learn about this important moment in history in a joyful and engaging way.
A letter with more details about the event will be sent out shortly.

As a school, we need to practise safety drills. We practise going outside for a fire drill, as well as moving to a safe space inside during a lockdown drill. Next week, we will hold class assemblies to remind children about these drills, as well as carry out a lockdown drill. Please see examples of some of the slides that we share with children.
Today we’ve had an exciting and energetic Times Tables Rock Star (TTRS) and Number Day! The children have had a fantastic time celebrating all things maths – from rocking out in their Times Tables Rock Stars outfits to diving into fun, hands-on number challenges across the school. The enthusiasm and creativity shown by the children (and staff!) has been wonderful to see. Whether they were solving tricky puzzles, competing in friendly times tables battles or showing off their best rock star looks, everyone embraced the spirit of the day with joy and determination.
Thank you for your support with costumes, encouragement and helping make maths feel fun and meaningful for our learners. Days like today help build confidence and a love for learning.
