We’re delighted to welcome all our Millfield children back to school after the Easter break. It’s been wonderful to see them return full of enthusiasm, energy and a real eagerness to learn!

Oracy Hour: All classes in the school will spend time discussing their Listening Ladders. Listening Ladders set out various listening skills and orders them in terms of complexity. Children will also try out a range of speaking and listening games.

Bags2School donations: If you are kindly donating through the Bags2School scheme, please bring your donation bag (securely tied) to the school hall via the carpark entrance between 8:30am and 9:00am. Thank you.
EYFS & KS1 Number Day: We will be spending the day celebrating everything about numbers! Nursery, Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 children are invited to wear non-uniform linked to numbers e.g. clothes with numbers, spots or stripes (that could be counted). Please see the email for further information.
KS2 Times Tables Rock Star Day: For children in Year 3 & Year 4, Number Day will be based on Times Tables Rock Stars! They are encouraged to dress up as a rock star today, rocking their air guitars! If you need inspiration, the website https://ttrockstars.com has lots of dressing up ideas. Please see the email sent out for further information.
Please remember that whatever the children wear on the day, they will still need to have sensible shoes for break and lunchtime, and trainers if it is their usual PE day.

Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 96.23%. Well done to Apple Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 98.8%. |

Happy Easter
In our end of term assembly, we celebrated another exciting term filled with a range of events and special moments that enhanced learning for children.
Thank you to Millfield PTA for organising the exciting Easter Egg Hunts for Millfield children this week.

Easter Friendship Ladders:
The theme of this year’s Spring Term Friendship Ladder Day was ‘Spring Arts and Crafts’. On Thursday, children mixed within year groups to create pieces of spring related art and craft together.
Nursery Stay and Play Sessions:
It was wonderful to welcome the children’s parents into school this week for the Nursery stay and play sessions. The children took were keen to show their parents and carers their learning and play areas.
Nursery Walk Around Buntingford:
Nursery children thoroughly enjoyed their Spring Walk around Buntingford. They were keen to explore nature, spot blooming flowers, listen to birds sing and enjoy the fresh air. It was a wonderful adventure full of curiosity and joy! Well done Nursery for being great representatives of Millfield.
Year 1 Assemblies:
Well done to Elm Class and Olive Class children who performed their class assemblies with enthusiasm this week. Elm children shared their learning all about the seven continents and Olive Class children shared their English and PSHE learning using the book ‘Ruby’s Worry’. It was lovely to welcome parents to these events. We were very proud of their performances, especially their wonderful singing.
