    Remembrance Day:

    It was wonderful to see so many Millfield children and families, as well as our local community at the Remembrance Service in Buntingford on Sunday. I felt privileged, along with the Assembly Committee, to represent Millfield by laying a wreath at the war memorial. The children took great pride in this responsibility. £438.74 was kindly donated by our school community for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal – Thank you.

  • Open Morning for Nursery (2- & 3-year-olds) and Reception Prospective Parents

    It was a pleasure to welcome prospective parents/carers into Millfield this week for a tour of the school. We still have availability in our open morning on 28th November 2024. If you know of any local family or friends considering a school-based Nursery (2- and 3-year-olds) or have a Reception aged child for 2025-26, please direct them to contact our school office on 01763 271717 to book a place.

  • Church Farm Ardley

    Church Farm Ardley has kindly donated a prize to a raffle that we will be holding in the run up to Christmas. Please see the flyer from Church Farm Ardley promoting Christmas activities held at the farm in December. 

  • Year 4 Christ Church Visits

    Ash Class and Oak Class visited Christ Church this week to signify the importance of Remembrance Day. The Year 4 children were keen to ask and answer questions and were great representatives of Millfield, well done.

  • Cross Country at Edwinstree

    Year 3 and Year 4 children were excited to visit Edwinstree School this week when they took part in a Cross Country Event. Children supported one another to complete this challenge – a big well done to all our Year 3 and 4 runners.

  • Herts Catering Limited Porridge Workshop

    Our Year 3 and Year 4 children took part in a HCL Porridge Workshop which allowed the children to explore a healthy breakfast option and taste lots of toppings. All children were keen to participate and very much enjoyed the workshop.

  • Decorate a Bauble

    Fri 15 Nov 2024

    Children were sent home with a leaflet, including a return slip to ‘Decorate a Bauble’ for Christmas. Please complete and return the slip by 29th November. Decorated baubles will be displayed on your child’s class Christmas tree and returned home at the end of term. A prize will be awarded in each class for the most creative bauble.

  • Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service

    Please see a leaflet from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service regarding a free Christmas Extravaganza taking place at Royston Fire Station on Monday 2nd December 2024 between 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a quiet hour between 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Further details are on the attached leaflet.

    9:00am Nursery (2 & 3 year olds) & Reception Prospective Parent/Carer Open Morning: Here at Millfield we look forward to welcoming prospective parents with children starting school in September 2025 for a tour.

     

    A minute silence and Remembrance Day Assembly for Millfield children.

    Tuesday

    Anti-bullying Assembly: Our assembly will focus on anti-bullying, aimed at promoting kindness, respect, and inclusivity. This assembly will provide children with practical tools and strategies to address bullying, support one another, and help maintain a safe, positive environment for everyone. The theme this year is ‘Choose Respect’.

     

    9:05am Maple Class Assembly for Parents/Carers: For Maple Class parents/carers, please see your invite for further information. Refreshments will be available for parents/carers.

     

    Year 3 & 4 Cross Country event at Edwinstree: All Year 3 & 4 children will be given the opportunity to take part in this event. Please send Year 3 & 4 children to school in their PE kits with a bottle of water and their coats.

    Wednesday

    Ash Class to visit Christ Church: Ash Class will visit Christ Church to highlight the importance of Remembrance Day and discuss why this is a key event in history.

    Thursday

    Oak Class to visit Christ Church: Oak Class will visit Christ Church to highlight the importance of Remembrance Day and discuss why this is a key event in history.

     

    Herts Catering Limited Workshops for Nursery and Year 2 children:

    Nursery and Year 2 children will take part in a workshop hosted by Herts Catering Limited. The topic will focus on “What food shall I choose?” to promote healthy eating.

    Friday

    Children in Need: Children and staff are invited to a non-school uniform day where they can wear spotty clothes and/or accessories. Whether it's polka dots, stripes, or any kind of spotted attire, let your creativity shine! This is an opportunity to show our support for Children in Need in a colourful and playful way. Please do not feel you have to buy anything new. Please see the letter sent out for further information and the link to donate to Children in Need should you wish to.

    Celebration Assembly for Millfield children.

    Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 94.86%. Well done to Cherry Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 97.8%.

  • Tom Pinnock meeting with Millfield Reading Rockets

    It was wonderful to welcome Tom, a Millfield parent, into school this week to meet our ‘Reading Rockets’. The children were pleased to receive the kind donation from ‘The Abilities in Me’ foundation. Each book beautifully celebrates diverse abilities, offering children meaningful representation and understanding. The Reading Rockets will be sorting the books so that every class has the opportunity to enjoy them. Thank you, Tom.
