It was lovely to celebrate our half termly awards in our class celebration assemblies today. Children spoke confidently about how they show respect and appreciation for each other.
Thank you to all parents who attended the Nursery Stay and Plays this week. It was lovely to welcome you into our school and see you spending time with your child.
This week, we celebrated Internet Safety Day, raising awareness about the importance of staying safe online. KS1 & KS2 children had an assembly where they learnt about how to protect their personal information and recognise online risks. KS1 children enjoyed interactive activities, such as online safety quizzes and story-based discussions. KS2 participated in group discussions and role-play scenarios to understand the impact of their digital actions. It was a great opportunity to remind everyone how we can all stay safe and responsible online!
Year 4 visited Hazard Alley on Monday to learn more about how to stay safe. They participated in 12 scenarios including how to stay safe near water, online safety and finding safe places to cross roads. The children experienced making urgent phone calls to the emergency services and putting someone into the recovery position. For more photos from the trip please view the Year 4 home learning page: Hazard Alley Photos | Millfield First and Nursery School. The children very much enjoyed the trip and were great representatives of Millfield.

Work to our school site:
Following the water damage to areas of Millfield’s site earlier in the Autumn Term, I’m thrilled to share an update. Fortunately, the flooring has dried out and necessary groundwork has been completed. Over the February half term break, carpets will be laid through the school entrance, offices and relevant hallways. After half term, we will be focusing our attention on the hall floor with the aim of having new flooring installed as soon as possible. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank children and school adults for their flexibility during this period of change within our school environment.
Children’s Mental Health Week
We have enjoyed recognising and celebrating Children's Mental Health this week at Millfield. Children took part in assemblies and activities throughout the week to explore the importance of self-awareness and expressing emotions using Disney Pixar's Inside Out characters. Children also referred to Zones of Regulation, matching colours to emotions, which we use at Millfield. Millfield adults were very impressed with how articulate our children have been in their discussions, showing mature emotional intelligence.
