Assembly Committee & Year 4 Sports Stars visit to Layston Grove Care Home:
It was great to get out into the community this week and attend Layston Grove Care Home with the Assembly Committee & Year 4 Sports Stars. The Children played games in the garden and had lovely discussions with the residents. Thank you to Layston Grove for having us and well done to the children that attended for being great representatives of Millfield!
Year 4 Leavers Performance and Refreshments
Our Year 4 children put on a wonderful performance to parents and carers this week. The children shared highlights of their years here at Millfield and showed such passion and pride. We wish our Year 4 children the very best of luck in their new schools in September.
Dogs Trust Assembly & Workshops
We welcomed Dogs Trust into Millfield this week who presented a dog safety assembly and workshops to KS1 & 2 children. The children were engaged and keen to learn skills to interact safely with dogs in both their personal lives and social settings. Both children and staff found the workshops beneficial and informative.

Message from Year 3 Teachers: The children in Year 3 are hoping to have a D&T morning today making pneumatic toys. Please can all children bring in a small box, we are looking for cereal box size boxes (no bigger) or slightly smaller. Please bring whatever you can. The children will need to be able to cut them so the cardboard cannot be too thick. Many thanks from the Year 3 team.
Assembly Committee & Year 4 Sports Stars visit to Layston Grove Care Home: The Assembly Committee and Year 4 Sports Stars will be attending Layston Grove Care Home along with our school dog, Blue. They will be playing a selection of games with the residents in the garden. |

Year 2 Library Visits: The Year 2 classes will be visiting Buntingford Library where they will have a tour, story and activity relevant to the topic they are focusing on in class. Millfield staff will walk children to and from the library.

Nursery & Reception Parachute Fun: Children in the EYFS will have fun working together playing parachute games on the school field. Dogs Trust Assembly & Workshops: The ‘Be Dog Smart’ program by Dogs Trust is dedicated to fostering secure, loving connections between children and canine companions. Their mission is to empower children with the knowledge and skills to interact safely with dogs in both their personal lives and social settings. Dogs Trust will be joining us and presenting a dog safety assembly and workshops to KS1 & 2 children. |

Strong bag: Children in Reception to Year 4 will be bringing home their learning from this year. Please send your child into school today with a named, strong carrier bag/bag for life.
End of Term Award Assemblies for children in school.
Millfield’s Got Talent Auditions in Classes: We are looking forward to the auditions for the talent show today. Please remind your child/ren to inform their teacher if they plan to audition. Please be mindful that talents which involve 'TikTok' dances or routines are age inappropriate for our children and therefore cannot be used for the auditions. Please also be mindful of song choices to ensure that they are appropriate for children 9 years or under. Thank you for your support in keeping our children safe. |

Attendance: Whole school attendance this week was 91.2%. Well done to Maple Class who were the class winners for attendance with an amazing 97%.

Sponsored Olympic Run: Certificates have been awarded to children for their sponsored run achievements. Children in KS2 had a target of 329 miles per class and they successfully managed an average of 330 miles! KS1 children had a target of 237 miles per class and they managed an average of 234 miles! The children in EYFS achieved more than their target of 209 miles!

Reception School Trip: Reception children and staff had an amazing day visiting Cedars Wildlife Park. They had a wonderful experience exploring wildlife and learning about small mammals and reptiles. All the children were great representatives of Millfield, well done Reception children!
KS1 & KS2 Bouncy Castle Fun: Children had lots of fun in their classes bouncing on the bouncy castle; it was lovely to see the children’s excitement! The year 4 students enjoyed a picnic to celebrate their time spent at Millfield. Thank you to Mrs Lewis for arranging this for the children.
‘The 2 Johns’ E-Safety Training: It was fantastic to see so many parents and carers joining us for the E-safety Training. The workshop was eye opening and informative, and we would like to thank ‘The 2 Johns’ for holding this event at Millfield. We hope that parents and carers that couldn’t attend on Tuesday joined the online workshop that ‘The 2 Johns’ kindly offered to our school community on Thursday evening.
Schoolympics for Year 3 & 4 children: Children in Year 3 and 4 had a great day at King James Academy in Royston alongside children from other local schools. They participated in various sporting activities and had lots of fun on the day. We were all very proud of how the children represented Millfield.
Well done to all the children at Millfield for being determined to win as many points as they could for their house team.
