  Extra-curricular school clubs begin this week.
  Monday	Reception children start at Millfield full time (8:45am – 3:15pm).   Shoe boxes for Year 3: Willow Class need shoe boxes for their science lessons. If you have a spare shoe box, please bring this in today to Mrs Cranko in Willow Classroom. Thank you.   Nursery stay & play sessions: Please check your child’s individual transition arrangements.   Nursery Home Visits: Please check your visit day and time.
  Tuesday	Nursery stay & play sessions: Please check your child’s individual transition arrangements.   Nursery Home Visits: Please check your visit day and time.
  Wednesday	Nursery stay & play sessions (including the Provision for 2-year-olds): Please check your child’s individual transition arrangements.
  Thursday	Nursery Seedling children start at Millfield for mornings (8:45am – 11:45am).   Nursery stay & play sessions for the Provision for 2-year-olds: Please check your child’s individual transition arrangements.   Herts Catering Limited begin Food Technology lessons with Willow and Rowan Classes. All ingredients etc will be provided. Cooking opportunities will be offered to all year groups over the school year.

  It has been a pleasure to welcome all children back to school this week. All staff have been incredibly impressed with how children have settled so quickly into a brand-new school year showing our school values.

   

  It was great to see so many children showing their parents and carers their new classrooms on Thursday. At Millfield, we always encourage children to take ownership of their learning spaces; this has been evident only three days into a new term! We are very much looking forward to further events where parents and carers join us in school. • Message from the Year 3 Teaching Team

  Unfortunately, a healthy snack is not provided by the Government for children from Year 3. As a result, if your child would like a morning snack, please provide a healthy snack separate from their lunch for morning break e.g. fruit or vegetables. Thank you.

  Monday 2nd September and Tuesday 3rd September 2024	Staff INSET days – school closed to children.
  Monday 2nd September 2024	Extra-Curricular Club information will be shared with parents/carers.
  Wednesday 4th September 2024	Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 Children return to school. School day times: School gates will open for arrival at 8:40am and will close at 8:55am. The school day starts at 8:45am. The school day finishes at 3:15pm, gates will open just before. The Cabin Wrap Around Care Breakfast and After School Clubs begin; book your child’s place using Magicbooking.
  Wednesday 4th to Tuesday 10th September 2024	Nursery home visits: For Nursery 2024-25 parents/carers, please check your visit day and time, as well as the transition arrangements.
  Wednesday 4th to Friday 6th September 2024	Reception transition period: For Reception 2024-25 parents/carers, please check your child’s timings. Reception children will begin their full days from Monday 9th September 2024.
  Thursday 5th September 2024 3:20 – 3:35pm	‘KS1 and 2 Meet the Teacher’ opportunity for parents/carers of KS1 and 2 children. After all children have been collected from classes, you are welcome to visit your child’s new classroom and meet their teacher.
  Week commencing: 9th September 2024	Autumn Term 2024 Extra-Curricular Clubs will begin.

  PE Kits
  Children will continue to wear PE kits for the full day when PE is timetabled. PE kit is very much part of our school uniform. Please ensure your child wears the appropriate uniform for PE: Plain black/navy blue shorts or jogging bottom/leggings, House coloured t-shirt with school logo, House coloured hoodie with school logo (or a school sweatshirt/cardigan with school logo could be worn).

  Staffing news: 
  Along with our wonderful children at Millfield, it has been a privilege to work with such a committed team of staff. As shared in a recent letter, we wish Mrs Wallis, Miss Castle-Giffin and Mrs Ward all the very best as they move on to new ventures. We also wish Mrs Everington all the very best as she starts her maternity leave. We will be warmly welcoming Mrs Collins (Nursery Class Teacher), Ms McDermott (Birch Class Teacher), Miss Jones (Oak Class Teacher) and Mrs Hoy (Teaching Assistant in Year 1) to the team in September.   Year 4 children:
  Tomorrow, we will be wishing our amazing Year 4 children a warm goodbye as they move on to the next stage in their educational journey. They have been an incredible cohort; hardworking, kind and full of fun! They brought back many wonderful memories during their Year 4 Leaver’s Performance. Millfield staff wish all Year 4 children the very best in their future endeavours.

  Sports Games Gold Mark Award!

  I am delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. Thank you to the school community for embracing all things active! A further thank you to the PE Faculty, as well as school staff for organising so many active opportunities for our children.
