We all enjoyed dressing in sportswear today to celebrate and fundraise for ‘Children in Need’.
Many children arrived at school this morning to be greeted by Joe Wicks, who was virtually teaching a PE lesson to end his 24 hour PE challenge! Staff and children thoroughly enjoyed joining in.
Thank you for all donations received to support this fantastic charity.
Every weekday at 5pm until the end of term (18 December), the Youth Sports Trust are running a 30-minute online club for all children and young people to do some sport, develop skills and, most importantly, have fun!
The After School Sport Club will be led by Athlete Mentors from different backgrounds, abilities and sports. The first session will take place on Thursday 12 November at 5pm, with the world’s number one female inline skater and ten times British Champion, Jenna Downing.
Every day at 5pm from 16 November until 18 December, children and young people can join in with the live broadcast for free on their YouTube channel. Join in the conversation on social using #YSTAfterSchool and tagging @YouthSportTrust across all social media channels. You might need items from around your home for some sessions, but they’ll give some ideas ahead of each club to adapt if you don’t have these items.
The different daily themes are below:

We hope that many of our Millfield families will enjoy joining in. Please let us know if you do!
Next week Millfield will be taking part in Anti Bullying week. The children will have an assembly and discuss what bullying is. To recognise that everyone is different and differences are a positive thing, we would like to invite all children to wear odd socks on Wednesday 18th November 2020.
We are very proud of all at Millfield for the respect they have shown today. At 11am we held a minute silence to remember the sacrifices made by others during times of war.
Over the week the children and adults have been creating a joint ‘Poppy Display’ which is displayed outside for all to see.
On Wednesday 11th November 2020 we will be holding a 1 minute silence for Remembrance Day.
A wreath has been laid at Buntingford War Memorial from all the children and staff at Millfield School.
We are very proud of the children for their focus during our Friendship Ladder morning on Friday23rd October 2020.
The children thought about 'We all have the right to feel safe all the time' and about their 'Network Hand'.
Please look at our 'Wellbeing' page on the website to view the PowerPoints shared with Key Stage 1 and 2 children throughout the morning.
We are all looking forward to our first Friendship Ladders activities on Friday 23rd October 2020.
Currently our Friendship Ladder morning will be class based. During the morning children in Key Stage 1 and 2 will focus on ‘people that support us’ by creating ‘network hands’.
Thank you to everyone for donating food to Buntingford Food Bank as part of our Harvest Celebrations.
We were all amazed by the kind donations from the families of Millfield. Please look at the photographs below to see the generosity from Millfield’s community.
We will be holding a Harvest Festival Assembly in our classes and we would welcome and appreciate donations for the Buntingford Food Bank. The Food Bank provides emergency food for local families in crisis. They are very grateful for any donations; however, they are most in need of the following (in-date) items:
• Tinned vegetables
• Tinned meat
• Tinned fruit
• Tinned fish
• Pasta
• Pasta sauces
• Rice
• Breakfast cereal
• Long life milk
• Biscuits
• Tea
• Coffee
Please bring donations into school on Wednesday 14th October, 2020. We will collect the donations in each class and an adult will transfer them into the hall to ensure we are Covid safe.
We look forward to celebrating Harvest Festival with the children and are very thankful for any donations you can kindly offer.
