• Year 4 Residential:

  The Year 4 children had the opportunity to attend Hautbois Activity Centre this week. The Year 4 children, as well as staff, have been full of exciting stories today! Staff who attended the school trip have shared how proud they are of every Year 4 child. They took part in so many activities with many experiencing them for the first time. Thank you to all Millfield staff who made this trip possible.

  A huge thank you to the PTA and school staff for their efforts in organising and supporting the KS1 PTA Movie Night. We look forward to offering KS2 children the same opportunity on 19^th May 2023.

  

• Millfield's Coronation Celebrations

  Millfield Coronation Celebrations were a real success despite downpours of rain! Millfield Hall was transformed into Westminster Abbey where we crowned our very own King and Queen of Millfield.

   

   

  Millfield children and staff looked fantastic wearing their crowns and waving flags and we even managed to have our planned playground party between the showers. There were fun and games that could be heard across the whole school.

   

  During our assembly today we focussed on King Charles’ life. At the end of the assembly, each child was gifted a special Coronation Medal from Millfield School as a keepsake. Last week, Millfield School Council worked together to create a card and write a letter to King Charles to mark this occasion; within the card we included a Millfield Coronation Medal for him to also keep as a keepsake.

   

  Buntingford Town Council kindly gifted a commemorative badge to every child at Millfield to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles. The Buntingford Mayor visited us at Millfield on Wednesday to deliver these lovely gifts. The badges were presented to children, along with Millfield’s keepsake during our afternoon assembly.

   

  Staff at Millfield wish you all a very enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend with your family and friends.

• Lost Property:

  Lost property will be placed on tables outside the Chestnut Room (next to Year 3 classrooms) before school starts from Monday 24^th to Friday 28^th April next week (weather dependent). Please check and take any items that belong to your child/ren. It is always very helpful to have clothing named so it can easily be returned to children. Lost property are those items that are not named.

  Millfield has had a very busy and productive Spring Term! It was a delight to celebrate the achievements and efforts of children within our end of term assemblies this week. Millfield children should all be very proud of their successes this term.

  Millfield PTA:

  A big thank you to Millfield PTA for organising Easter egg hunts for children and for generously providing a tasty Easter gift to Millfield children! It was planned for the Easter egg hunt to follow the Award Assembly on Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, due to a sudden downpour of rain very few classes could complete their hunt outside. As a result, some classes enjoyed inside Easter egg hunts, whilst others patiently waited and enjoyed the activity today. A further thanks to the PTA for their support during a busy end of term afternoon!    

   

  Friendship Ladders:

  On Thursday, KS1 and KS2 children mixed groups across the school to create pieces of spring related art and craft together.

   

  Big Band Performance:

  What a fabulous experience for Millfield children and staff to watch Freman ‘Big Band’ students perform this week – many of whom were previously Millfield students! We not only got the watch and listen to a range of songs being performed, we also heard from students about their love of music; we found out all about the instruments they played and also their next steps as musicians.

  The new play equipment on the school field is progressing well. Fencing and groundwork will continue next week. We are looking forward to opening this new area at the start of the Summer Term! The field pedestrian gate will remain closed next week.
  Monday	Big Band Performance: We are excited to invite Freman ‘Big Band’ students to perform music using a variety of instruments to KS1 and KS2 children.

  Thursday	Friendship Ladders: Children will create Easter crafts with peers from across the school.   PTA Easter Egg Hunt: Thank you to the PTA for arranging this event for Millfield children during the school day.   Award Assembly: Our half termly award assembly will take place to celebrate learning over this half term.
  Friday	End of term Assembly: Within this assembly, we will be celebrating the end of the Spring Term. We will be congratulating children on their Reading and Maths Challenge Cards, as well as finding out who the Termly House Winners are.   School finishes at 1:10pm
