• Red Nose Day

  Today children and staff celebrated Red Nose Day with a non-school uniform day; many chose to wear red to mark the occasion and represent this fantastic charity.  Thank you to our school community for their online donations to the charity.

  Monday	Science Week: A Science assembly will kick off Science Week at Millfield! This week children will develop their scientific knowledge through a variety of fun and engaging investigations.

• Fiddle Toys (known as ‘learning tools’ at Millfield):

  Recently, we have become aware that children are bringing in fiddle toys from home. We are noticing that there is a competitive element that can disrupt learning. As a school, we are aware of children that benefit from using learning tools within class and how the correct use of the tools can improve learning. We have a selection of suitable school learning tools that we have chosen purposely to be small, unobtrusive and quiet. The children identified are supported with these by their teacher. Please do not allow your child to bring any toys, including fiddle toys, into school from home.

  Thursday	2:30pm Year 4 meeting for parents/carers of children attending the residential trip to Hautbois. Please see the letter previously sent out. Please enter via the carpark hall doors.
  Friday	Rowan Class Assembly for parents/carers: Please see the letter sent home to parents/carers of Rowan Class children regarding their class assembly. It is always very helpful when children arrive promptly at 8:45am so they have time to be registered and prepare themselves for the assembly. Please enter via the carpark hall doors. Please arrive from 9:00am for a 9:05am start.

   

• World Book Day:

  Children and staff looked wonderful all dressed up as characters from their favourite books. Children enjoyed the round robin reading activities, as well as a reading house competition in assembly time.

  Monday	‘Fairtrade Fortnight’ Assembly for KS1 & KS2 children. Fairtrade Fortnight spreads the message of how making the small switch to Fairtrade supports producers in protecting the future of some of our most-loved food and the planet.

  Thursday	World Book Day: Please see the letter sent home from the English Faculty regarding World Book Day. Children are invited to dress up as a book character for the day.
  Friday	Willow Class Assembly for parents/carers: Please see the letter sent home to parents/carers of Willow Class children regarding their class assembly. It is always very helpful when children arrive promptly at 8:45am so they have time to be registered and prepare themselves for the assembly. Please enter via the carpark hall doors. Please arrive from 9:00am for a 9:05am start.

   

• Play area project:

  We have some very exciting news to share! Due to a very kind and thoughtful donation to school, in the coming month, a new play area will be created and installed on our school field. The children and staff have helped to design this space and we are all very excited to see the area develop. There are likely to be slight adjustments in terms of access arrangements to the school site during installation; we will keep you posted when we know more. 

  

• Millfield PTA:

  The PTA, including school staff, are busy preparing for the KS2 PTA Disco that will be taking place after school today (24.02.23). Our thanks to the PTA for providing this opportunity for Millfield children. I’m sure it will be just as successful and fun as the KS1 disco was!

   

  The PTA have recently supported Millfield with the purchasing of new coat hook trolleys for children to hang their coats on when arriving at the hall for their lunch. The funding from the PTA supports Millfield children in such a range of ways and is always much appreciated. Thank you to our school community for your support.
