It was delightful to welcome the children back to school this week, we have enjoyed hearing about their summer holidays and getting back into the school routine.
Following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen, today we held a Key Stage 1 and 2 assembly to commemorate the life of Her Majesty. The children were extremely respectful and mature. We will continue to follow Government guidance as we receive it and of course will keep you informed.

To support with smooth and prompt arrival and collection times, a further third gate has been installed along our perimeter over the Summer holiday. This is on the Community Centre field side of the school. All gates can be used as entrance and exit gates.
EYFS transition sessions are on Monday to Thursday this week: for parents/carers of Nursery and Reception children, please see individual information regarding your child’s sessions for this week.

2:30pm Millfield Fabulous Fiesta Parade: This term, based on the theme of ‘Endangered Species’, Millfield children have been busy creating pieces of art. On this day, the children will parade around the outside perimeter of our school. We welcome families to line this route and enjoy our ‘Fabulous Fiesta Parade’. The best view of our parade will be on the field next to the school that is on Luynes Rise (by the community Centre and Children’s Park). During the parade, children must remain with their classes and school adults. Please cheer and wave at Millfield children, however, please do not encourage them to move away from their allocated positions in the parade. With British weather, this parade is weather dependent. If it cannot go ahead, we will communicate via text and email as soon as possible. |

9:15 Year 4 Leavers Performance and Refreshments: We are excited to invite Year 4 parents/carers to the Year 4 performance of ‘Prexit’. Please enter the school hall via the car park entrance. The performance is approximately 1 hour in length. Refreshments will be offered after the performance.
School finishes for the Summer holiday at 1:10pm: Please ensure that all belongings are collected and taken home. |
You may be aware that the severe weather warning for Monday has now risen to red. Currently, Hertfordshire County Council and the Department for Education are not advising schools to close, although they are recommending that we take measures such as ventilating rooms, switching off electrical devices, closing blinds and keeping children out of direct sun.
Therefore, we currently intend to be open on Monday. We will follow national guidance in order to look after everyone while they are in school.
Please make sure your child brings a water bottle with them. Please ensure you apply sun cream and your child brings a sun hat. Children are welcome to wear their PE kit (even if it is not their PE day) or summer school uniform to keep as cool as possible.
We will continue to review the situation over the weekend and we will be in touch if there are any changes to our plans. This may be on Monday morning.
Thank you to everyone who took part in this challenge. We are pleased to share that Millfield children have raised £1217.54. This is an amazing achievement! Usborne books will support the school even further by gifting a free book allowance. This means Millfield will be able to purchase books at the total value of £1896. Our thanks to the whole school community, as well as Usborne books for this amazing opportunity.

As previously shared, after much consideration amongst the teaching team, children will remain in their current classes as they move up to the next year group.
Class Assemblies: Within Class Assemblies today, children will be informed of their new teacher and classroom for September 2022. This will support them with the up and coming transition session on Thursday. |

Bouncy Castle Fun Day: We are pleased to offer all Millfield children a Bouncy Castle Fun Session. During the day, year groups will take part in fun and games on the field with a bouncy castle and summer sports. This will celebrate how proud Millfield staff are of all children that attend Millfield.
After School Book Sale: After school, there will be a book sale. As we have moved to Read, Write Inc. books in school, we have a range of books that we are no longer using and thought Millfield children could benefit from having these at home. Books will range in price from 20p to 50p, but any donation would be gratefully received in order to support reading at Millfield. Depending on the weather, this will hopefully take place on the playground by the field.
Millfield Transition Session: Due to staffing restrictions, children moving into Maple Class for the next academic year will have their transition session today (not on Thursday).
Annual School Reports: Annual School Reports will be sent home today with Millfield children. Unless informed otherwise by parents/carers, reports will be given to the adult collecting the child from school e.g. parent/carer, grandparent or childminder. |
If you have a child in Early Explorers (afternoon Nursery), Year 3 and/or Year 4, please view your child’s meal balance on the Arbor Parent Portal App. Payment towards meal balances needs to be made by today (Friday 8th July 2022); this is also completed via the Arbor Parent Portal App.
Milk Letters have been emailed out today for children in Reception to Year 3. If your child is in Nursery, they have brought home a milk letter today.
